HxH episodes 81-90 : Reviews and Ratings
Episode 81 : (8/10)
This was an entertaining episode. Kite, Gon and Killua finally encounter a chimera ants for the first time. But damn!! These ants are tougher than I expected, this Rammot dude gave a decent fight. He actually survived some powerful nen attacks. I loved Killua’s thunderbolt btw. Not are only these ants strong but they’re also incredibly ruthless and cruel. That scene where we see what Rammot did to the horses. Sheeesh!! That’s some gruesome sh\*t!
Episode 82 : (9/10)
This was such a great episode. This arc is just so dark, what that centaur did do those two poor humans is just nightmare fuel. All of the three fights were good but killua’s was one another level. He really did flip his switch on. It’s been a while since we’ve seen assassin mode from him. **”Snake awakens”** ?? where did that come from ? and man !! the way he broke her neck was so clean, this was actually the scene that made me post in this sub for the first time. The way the screen displaying her POV just flips over !! Genius!! So creative!! I have never seen something like that done before in other animes. To be honest, at this point I think killua might be one of my favorite characters in all anime. Gon’s fight was good too. We finally see “the scissors” being used for the first time. As expected, Kite is a monster, he took out the boss so effortlessly. But hold on a minute ?! that ant is getting nen ?? how ? why? That shouldn’t be possible. I’m sure it’s gonna be explained in the future but I’m still shocked. Great episode
Episode 83 : (8.5/10)
This arc definitely took off. I am enjoying these episodes so much. Kite and the boys just keep on forging their way through to the nest. I can’t wait for them to make it !! they’re probably gonna have to fight many of the stronger ants there. Also, Kite’s teammates said that the queen gives birth to multiple kings !!? they’re gonna have to take down the queen really fast then. Gon and killua’s battles were entertaining, but Kite definitely took the spotlight this episode, that scythe is really NASTY. He took everybody out with a single strike. I really liked the frog ant’s recognition of “Death”. But I gotta say, that scene where kite questions Gon’s view on not feeling bad for the ants just because they don’t care for each other was a bit ominous. Why did it sound like some scary foreshadowing ?
Episode 84 : (9.5/10)
Woah, that took me by surprise. This new royal guard seems incredibly strong, she’s so creepy. She gives off some seriously sinister vibes. Her birth scene was so unsettling. She humbled Rammot immediately. The imagery when she puts her hand on the top of his head was so great. In such a simple way, the writers made us understand immediately how that solider felt at her presence. Utterly insignificant. At the start of the episode I was so happy when I saw Pokkle alive. I was so sure that Gon and the others were gonna save him when they reach the nest. But this new ant noticed him so easily. And boy oh boy, what fate did await him. That was one of darkest, cruelest and most disturbing scenes I’ve seen in anime. The sound she was making when she was messing with his brain is still ingrained into my mind. And not only that she was born with the nen, but she’s also a specialist. her name is neferpitou huh ? guys, does that have a special meaning or something ?
Episode 85 : (10/10)
Speechless.
I don’t even know what to say. I’m still stunned. That was top 3 episodes of the entire show so far. I knew Neferpitou was strong but not THIS strong. I think she might be the strongest character so far. Starting from the moment she leapt toward kite, I don’t think I took a single breath for the next 3 minutes. That's how suspenseful the whole sequence was, it kinda reminded me of when Nobunaga looked up toward killua and Gon when they were tailing them. And everything happened so freaking fast. In mere moments, Kite lost an arm, Gon was about to lose his sh\*t, Killua knocked him out, took off and boom! It was all done. Masterful. Killua reflecting on their overconfidence was a nice touch too. I was very happy when I saw Netero come out of the van with the other two, but my happiness didn’t last long when killua told them that neferpitou would kill all three of them. That’s INSANE. Finally I must admit that the writer fooled me with that whole optimistic speech about Kite being alive. Killua’s commentary on Gon being “Light” made even more believable. I really gobbled it up. But the cut to the next scene where we see her petting Kite’s severed head on her lap was like a punch to my stomach. This is definitely not like other animes. You know that feeling when you just finish an amazing movie and keep staring at your ceiling for the next hour. That’s exactly what happened to me after I finished this episode. What a masterpiece !!
Episode 86 : (7.5/10)
I feel like this was the first “Okay” episode in a long time. It’s been on a roll for a long time. Definitely still entertaining though! Some new faces were introduced. But BISKYYYY!! I didn’t even expect to see her again for the rest of the show let alone this soon. She really is the best mentor. Also KITE ?! what’s going on ? is he dead or alive ? my bet is that it’s just his body is back to normal, not his soul though. I mean … we’ve seen him decapitated after all. Also Netero did confirm Killua’s assumptions on neferpitou being stronger than him. That’s so crazy to me. Not only that, but a new royal guard was born, he looks kinda classy and sophisticated.
Episode 87 : (7/10)
A relatively slow episode. I don’t have much thought on this one except for Knuckle. I love him. He acts tough but he’s such a big softie and such a sweet heart. Maybe the reason I like him a LOT already is because I see much of myself in him. Seeing him crying when he was looking at the puppy made me tear up a bit Lmao.
Episode 88 : (7.5/10)
Even the humor in this anime is on point. The interactions between Palm and Gon and the others is so funny. Neter going back to training by disposing of some ants at the same time is a good idea. He must be a bit sluggish. Also, are the royal guards manipulating Kite ?? OMG Gon and Killua are gonna lose their mind when they see that !! they’re probably gonna have to fight him. Oh sh\*t. also the last royal guard is born. He seems like the toughest one.
L Episode 89 : (9/10)
I f\*cking love Gon man. He may be simple-minded but he’s so sharp at times. I really like his way of thinking. He keeps thinking outside the box to get out of the toughest situations. His fight with knuckle was really good, especially that last minute. He almost got him. But my favorite part of the episode was Bisky’s teaching to killua. He always seemed so strong to me that I never thought about his weaknesses. Everything she said was on point, illumi really drilled a bad mentality in him. Hopefully after becoming aware of his problem, he can force himself to change. That whole dialogue with Bisky is what made this episode really great. Amazing writing!!
Episode 90 : (8/10)

Lmaoo, there is no way Gon could understand all that math. I didn’t expect Knuckle‘s ability to be that complex considering how simple-minded he seemed to be. This is probably one of my favorite nen abilities in the show. It’s so unique and creative. I don’t know if I understood it completely but it seemed kinda OP to me. But poor killua man, he seems so desperate. He’s trying really hard though, I hope he defeats shoot, I can’t even picture him away from Gon man.
Ps: I wanted to add some additional thoughts this time. I think that HxH is so close to dethroning my number 1 anime of all the time. If it improves even more or at least keeps the same quality for the rest of show it will definitely become my favorite. Also I know I’m only at episode 90 but I think this is tied to “Greed island” already as my 2nd favorite arc of the anime behind Yorkshin city.***
I’ve also seen in another post made by a guy who makes reviews too, that HxH has a movie called “the last mission“. Is it canon ? should I watch it ? the other guy watched it at around ep77. Does that mean I’m screwed and I can’t watch it anymore. I hope someone explain this to me.
Another thing that someone else told me is that Kite actually appears in chapter 1 in the manga. What’s the deal with that ? why was this change made in the anime?
