ARK Survival Evolved

Curious, does anyone play this? I bought it - played it a couple of times. Maybe 5-6 hours total thus far. I find it rather archaic to start over constantly, therefore I assume that I am doing something completely wrong. If I leave the game - I haven't quite figured out how to get back to where I was which in terms of gameplay 5-6 hours had me a nice wooden chalet!!

Does anyone have any suggestions? Is it my server setup?

Ark is fun, but it's one of those PVE/P survival games like minecraft where you need to really get a base built and established. Then you can venture out from there. It's an okay game, but a bit difficult since they give you basically no instructions. Best with friends who've played before.

Okay that's a fair assessment. I did notice other groups of people running around following each other so that makes perfect sense.

I guess my 5-6 hours isn't going to cut it then. I want to get into it - that's the problem. It seems like it has endless possibilities.

Have never played Ark myself. I've seen plenty for them and know they're really popular, but just never appealed enough to me to actually pick up I suppose.

Tried playing it with a friend couple of years ago.

Unfortunately, I was playing Rust back when I tried it more consistently, it was hard to make the jump.
Don't get me wrong, I don't play either now, but my plate of "sandbox survival" was full with Rust.

Aspects of the game weren't too captivating for me, perhaps I could give it a try again later, provided I can find a friend to play with ofc.

Well for starters. Making a bed will spawn you back where your base is.

I own a private server and have over 1000 hours played with friends. If you need advice or help just PM me.

Yeah, Rust was another game that seemed similar and I watched a lot more for as well, but still never tried. To be fair though, that one was also partially due to being m&k only I think. ARK I know is on console and so obviously would be good with a controller too.

Better play on third party hosted servers like Arkade (Just Google), with a dedicated staff members, best mods, discord services, in-game players hosting shops to support you to progress. It's a lot more fun that way.

Also, if you play with friends, the game is like 10 times more fun. I have like 2 K hours on this game, I spent most of the CoVid lockdown situation in this game only.

Right now, I don't play anymore. Good luck, have fun. :)

What's the base game disadvantages or whatever versus what you mentioned at the start? Is it a like a modded version of the game or just a controlled version of it by all you mentioned? As for playing with friends, yeah, that and rust for instance both strike me as games you surely will get WAY more enjoyment out of while playing with them.

They just host the servers with mods that improve QoL in game.

Nothing game breaking or putting in a too advanced spot.

Ofc, if you go to the shops in-game players host and sell, most of them are too advantages and can help you progress faster, but hey that's very optional and everyone wants to play the game in their very own way. ;)

Rust is next on the list - Another one I never gave much time too. I find it hard to find the one that suits me just perfectly. When I do though, it's go time and I won't stop.

Ahh I see. Yeah most of that makes sense. And you mean that within a lot of these servers, pay to win is basically a thing? Since there is PvP right?

Default multipliers are god awful. Private servers with friends are the way to go. I dont care for public ones.
