Does your property have security cameras? And if yes, do watch/monitor them often.. or only when something happens that requires you to check them? I have security cameras all around my house, and I keep the live video streaming to tablet that I purchased specifically for displaying the feed.

I have way more than I probably need.

Modern cameras usually have motion detection alerting which can be confined to a specific zone within a camera field of view. I don't really see the point in live-feeds being on all the time if I can set up motion detection to only command my attention when there's something potentially worth looking at.

That’s a solid setup. It must give you peace of mind having that live feed on your tablet. I don’t have security cameras installed, but I can see the appeal, especially for monitoring things like deliveries or just keeping an eye on the property. Do you ever find yourself checking the feed even when nothing’s happening, just out of curiosity? Or do you mostly rely on it when something specific comes up?

I should. Building surveillance servers is my job. When I get my own place, I hope to have some security cameras connected to Home Assistant.

I was content with just the Ring, but they offer all kinds of cameras for around the house/outside the property.

I think that should be sufficient at my house. My garage door and front door are close to one another.

We have cans provided by our local town, and they're like 5ft tall, but those fuckers climb on stuff and open the lid.

I ended up having to get a few 3 years ago when someone I thought I was good friends with stole two of my chickens, I had gone on vacation and told him I was going and my neighbor recorded his truck coming on my property and going into my garage. There are probably more things missing but I have moved on and we cut ties.

Personally I was forced to get cameras around my house since I had someone literally peek into one of my windows at my house in the middle of the night, then someone knocking at my door also a random night around like 10pm so i had cameras installed in the corners of the house excluding the front and most recently having random tire punctures as soon as I leave my house which i had to get a front camera. I found multiple nails one morning behind my tire just perfectly placed so that way when I turn on my car I would puncture it so had a camera installed and since then no one has done anything around my house.
