Pretty easy if you know the signs of problematic gambling.

It could start from a simple habit of enjoying gambling visit to the casino etc, when this happens it becomes a chase instead of a thrill/fun experience that's when I would say you have a problem.

You need to check his finances, you can go daily to the casino but play like 10$ max, or you can go 1-2 times per week but blow 5k each time.
