China to raise reciprocal tariffs on U.S. goods to 84%

China on Wednesday said it would increase its reciprocal tariffs on U.S. goods to 84% from 34% previously, amid a deepening trade war between the world’s two largest economies.

China has pushed back once again to U.S. President Donald Trump’s tariff policies by hiking its levies on U.S. imports to more than 80%.

China’s Office of the Tariff Commission of the State Council said tariffs on U.S. goods will rise to 84% from 34% starting on April 10, according to a translation of the announcement. This comes after the latest U.S. tariff hike — which brings levies on Chinese goods to more than 100% — took effect at the start of April 9.

Damn this will make world on fire economically

No kidding. The Communist mindset won't let them back down. They have vowed to "fight to the end." They're pissed that someone has decided to fight back against them in their trade takeover. The real problem, as a family member just pointed out to me, is that the CCP may decide that things can't get worse for them and launch their fleets. We could wake up in a few days to news that the South China Sea is a warzone.

I'm not worried for Taiwan as much as I would be for our neighboring ally, the Philippines.

I believe that Taiwan is in greater danger because China sees it as a part of its territory and believes it should be returned to it.

I made this thread in S and P earlier because Omni had said he wanted political news in there from now on.
But anyway big news gets crazier and crazier OMG small businesses everywhere destroyed.
China vs US the 2 main countries for imports / exports the memes china has been making in response to trump's tariffs mocking the situation is hilarious.

Yeah and as they've said, it won't go any higher than that as it's pointless from here. China's 125% tariff has, as far as the Chinese government has said, effectively made US products untenable in the Chinese marketplace. This has removed US exporters to China from the competition there.

A lot of small business owners already coming out saying the tariffs are destroying their businesses, many jobs already lost, and here we have MAGA puppets praising it.

Imagine claiming to be patriotic, for American businesses, American workers, all while in the process praising the hardship and destruction this administration is causing to their businesses.

Hypocrites.

There are many on YouTube saying that their businesses are ruined.

The USA imports way more from China than the other way around.
