Video: Trump says he wants to raise housing prices, not lower them

https://www.pbs.org/newshour/politics/wa...p-not-down

"People that own their homes, we're going to keep them wealthy"

I have mixed feelings...
1) I'd love to buy a home this decade,
but 2) I won't buy one during his presidency,
and 3) my family recently purchased 7 figure land / home in a nice city.

Based on all of these things, if housing prices are to raise in short-term then this could be financially beneficial to my family. I have a very large family and everyone owns land... houses all of the cousins will inherit. My parents are already in the money on the mortgage for this new buy in terms of value anyways due to getting the property for around $400K less than it was appraised at.

Do you think Trump raising the cost of living is good or bad? Obviously I am appalled at it for social reasons, but we will likely benefit from more expensive housing overall in the future, even if it will suck in short-term.

Anyways, not surprised, this was all very predictable, every single thing he has done was roadmapped almost 2 years ago. I hope that the MAGAs on this forum appreciate me trying to find middleground and focus on the positives.

This is what they voted for, and it's something that could benefit my family greatly. Can't say it'll work out for all, but thanks I guess, I'm glad this is coming in after the purchase. Thoughts & prayers for the peasants who don't have land owning families or a home on their own.

That said... Donald Pedo Trump is incompetent. Based on his track record, housing prices will mostly certainly go down lmao. The man just can't succeed unless he is sucking seed.
I have a very straightforward take with housing.

Houses are made for people to live. It's preposterous the way people have taken on real estate as the vehicle for investment and opportunity of growth.

I'm strictly talking about residential housing. Not land and commercial sectors.

Housing should be affordable.

yeah, I 100% agree, there needs to be changes made by both sides of political spectrum. It has gotten a little nutty for milennials and gen Z is probably even more fucked (I don't know, don't know any tbh).

I made this thread mostly to highlight that even a diehard anti-Trumper / real American like me can find a positive, for myself. This thread is more an attempt to find a middleground with the Trumpers.

By selfishly celebrating my family's own success at the misfortune of the peasant class, I am aligning with the MAGA mindset. I don't like it, I feel like a disgustingly cheap whore wearing Goodwill hand-me-downs in a gloryhole room being filmed for the web, but i guess that's the MAGA way. Take it, take yours, and fuck the rest amirite? lol

But yeah, we would benefit from this, but like I said at end of my original post... The man isn't successful. He is incompetent, so if he has a goal to raise prices, we can assume they will lower.

Affordability was one of his campaign promises. Now it is just a liberal hoax apparently.

Yea and with regards to housing. It's not that it's a problem now in time and region. But it is a problem as a whole for the world and it has existed for at least a couple hundred years now.

With Trump. Idk man. His policies this tenure have been very questionable. Questionable even for the people who he is trying to benefit.

Trump is out to benefit himself, billionaires, and others like him. That's it, simple. He has always been this way, never will change, and anyone who thought he would do anything to help the people is a fucking idiot, hands down.

but yeah, he sucks at that too lol. He is incompetent man, he really is.

Anyone who thinks he's good at business either can't read a history log of his dealings, or they are economically defunct in terms of knowledge.

I still to this day have no way forward to respect a MAGA/Trumper. They proved to me and the world that they are incapable of being in any serious situation, unable to be trusted for any major decision.

If you ask a Trumper what he is doing that is personally benefitting their finances, they do not have an answer.
They will defer to talking about immigration instead, something that reduces labor, increases costs, and increases our deficit.

They will look you in the eye as the metrics continue to show Donald's continual failures and tell you that you are brainwashed for not believing in him, even though he has had many years to prove us all wrong and has failed repeatedly.

When someone succeeds, they say Trump has succeeded.
When Trump fails, they blame a President from 4-8+ years ago.

When a real economist steps in, they move to fire them.

When anyone remotely serious and qualified enters the room, you know they are not MAGA.
Just another way to make the rich get richer while the middle class and lower income people are fucked over.

As housing prices increase obviously that makes homes less obtainable for the middle class and lower income when it is already very hard to do as it is, then the landlords who are renting their homes who are actually somewhat decent landlords will be forced to increase rent prices due to the increase in property tax as the value of their homes that they rent go up.

You will then see more multi-million/billion dollar property management companies hike prices even higher out of greed.

Very well said.
