26th may | Car ploughs into crowd at Liverpool FC parade

Feel a pit in my stomach with this one.

My uncle and cousin are Liverpool fans and have gone to the game and were in the streets as the parade were going on. Thankfully we received a phone call from them only 30 minutes ago to let us know they are okay.

Here are a few snippets of the info along with currently live updating articles.

Just after 18:00 BST Merseyside Police said officers and emergency services were called to Water Street following reports that a car had "collided with a number of pedestrians".

A 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area was detained at the scene, the force said in an updated statement two hours ago as it also urged people to avoid speculating.

Emergency services have not yet released details of the extent of any injuries suffered or whether there have been any fatalities.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer is being kept updated on the latest developments and said in a statement that what has happened in Liverpool is "appalling".

This all happened moments after hundreds of thousands of fans had been celebrating on the nearby Strand as Liverpool FC took part in a 10-mile open top bus parade around the city. The club says its "thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this serious incident".

I've seen some censored footage and clearly this was intentional. Typically I don't pay attention to news but I'll be watching the live updates on this one. Besides the snippet above, minutes ago I've seen an update that at least 4 children are injured.

Feel you there. have friends and family who were over to celebrate it and saw that. Luckily they weren't near the area as they were nearer the start of the parade. Sad times
Shocking to see that. Apparently, he followed the Ambo, as someone was unwell, then speed off into the people.

Apparently, was under the influence of drugs . But of course, they will claim it on mental health. Make my blood boil.
Was watching it live.
I see they weren't afraid at Sky news to say who did it in the very first sentence...

"Police have arrested a 53-year-old white British man after a car hit several pedestrians during Liverpool FC's trophy parade through the city."

What scumbags the MSM is.

While I think immediately jumping to race and religion is wrong especially without full details being provided it is pretty common in the media.

The far right media immediately jumps to "black man" "Islamic terrorist"

while the far left media immediately jumps to "white man" "Christian"

So its not surprising to me.

Anyways it seems no one was killed from reports I have seen and so far just injuries, I hope everyone fully recovers.

I agree, the wording of these articles is always something that makes my mind confused. However, a lot of the terrible things that have happened here over the last year or two are primarily stories surrounding those of people who have migrated whether legally or illegally to the UK. But, they typically stay away from stating that in titles or at the start of articles, which shows us a recurring pattern lately. So to see the media cover it this way is strange. Considering when it hasn't been a white English person to commit these acts, they love to dodge around the fact that the most brutal and disgusting things have been coming from those who got here illegally.
I think as a common media reporting practice suspects and victims should have Gender, Age, and Race as part of the reporting when known. Religion I wouldn't agree needs to be part of reports unless it's relevant like Jihadist Islamic attack.
The road block was temporarily lifted apparently so that's how the car got in there. Then someone wearing a balaclava randomly runs off with the number plate while the police do nothing. Some people are also saying the driver of the car doesn't look like the man who got arrested. So, it looks like the usual suspects are behind this one as well.

Hopefully time will tell, if someone did that to my car (if I was a driver), I definitely wouldn't start running people over. Hope something of sense actually comes out of this.
Imagine a place filled with laughter and happiness turn into chaos within seconds. Damn.
