Threads for upgraded members

Whenever I share a proof of concept, there's skids bombarding the thread with the most skiddiest things.

Look, I have nothing against them.. but I'm getting more and more fed up with the literal trashing of my threads.

It's like a bird shitting on your car.

One thing that the skids almost always have in common is that they aren't upgraded so that led me to this suggestion:

Ability for OP to set a thread to viewable for upgraded members only. So non-upgraded members are greeted with the limited access screen when trying to read that thread.

I think this would be a very good addition to the forum. Share your thoughts.

I second this decision and if the member means serious business, he will consider upgrading.

I agree, you can set it so that only the uber upgrade have that option being an incentive to upgrade to uber while having the incentive for new members to upgrade to 1337.

Or maybe like news sites, they can only see the top few lines in the OP if non upgraded

Now this, this is good.

Like a sneak peek 🫣, so they consider upgrading if they are interested in the content.

NGL I hate that on news sites are imo news should be free but here that actually makes sense.

Me too actually, but I do think it works.

I think both the no access dialog that HF already has (https://hackforums.net/stickies.php)
or that sneak peak like dialog would have the same effect.
This would be a fundamental change to HF if I implemented this.

May as well just make the site a Pay Walled Garden.

Is a poor quality reply to your thread that big of a deal? Seems like some OCD type thing. Something that doesn't have to bother you unless you allow it.

The logistics of implementing something like this doesn't seem worth it. Would take a custom solution, plugin, and table alterations. I'd rather just set certain forums to be Upgrade Permissions only to view. Or even add a new forum like "Advanced Hacking" and make it Upgraded members only.

The other option is to use Attachments for the content. Much less likely new member will have Bytes.

Overall though, I just don't see this as happening.

Yeah it's somewhat of an OCD thing, ngl. And I see how the suggested implementation isn't worth the time, especially compared to the Advanced Hacking forum with access for upgraded members only.

I like the idea of the upgraded members only Advanced Hacking forum.
I don't really agree with this idea, there are a lot of non upgraded members here that actually have a lot of knowledge and can add quality conversation to threads, you'd be turning away quite some learning potential or great conversations/debates.

Low quality posts should just be reported to staff.

That's one perspective.

"you'd be turning away quite some learning potential or great conversations/debates."

Yeah, by choice.. If they'd want to chime in; Upgrade!
Sorry, this is not going to be implemented in any form.
