If you could wipe one memory but keep the lesson, what would it be?

Title says it all.
Lesson: "Do not sacrifice long-term goal for short term pleasure".

Memory: "A very painful one related to a business decision".
I do not want to wipe any memory. Survival mode, chronic stress and substance abuse wiped it for me xD

Real
That’s a deep question. For me, it would probably be a moment of failure or embarrassment that still taught me an important lesson. I’d love to forget the pain but keep the wisdom it gave me.

definitely bad company or backstabbing friends ... 🙁
Being betrayed by someone I trusted.
I would still remember caution with trust.

definitely a bad heartbreak. Learned a lot, but yeah, wouldn’t mind erasing the memory part.

I am just now noticing your comment for some reason. Also some real stuff man.
I suppose it'd have to be the years I spent being what I call being "sick" for all those years of extreme addiction. I don't remember everything exactly, but I do have fragmented memories of the terrible things that I had done to others, especially my loved ones. I finally got help seven years ago, then was officially diagnosed with a disorder that was the culprit and finally medicated, which saved me from certain death.

I've made amends with everyone except one person. I'd like to, only they want nothing to do with me, which is understandable. Plus, they have the life they wanted and rightfully deserve, and I don't want to throw a wrench in their gears. It's my penance and I accept it.

I've certainly learned my lesson and will always know it, but sometimes I remember something that makes me cringe.

For the record, I never abused anyone in any way, shape or form. I was just negligent and balls-deep in a major delusional state for a long time.

But this is my penance and I accept it.

Very in-depth and emotionally intrinsic response that resonated deeply with me. I appreciate you sharing this.
Memory: Taking drgz for first time.
Lesson: There are things u cant ever recover.
probably a memory that really hurt me or made me feel terrible. I’d want to forget the pain but still remember what it taught me, so I don’t make the same mistake again, actually it sounds funny people do not want to keep pain but do hope to remember the lesson
