Where Would the Money for Universal Basic Income Come From?

Where Would the Money for Universal Basic Income Come From?

While Universal Basic Income (UBI) promises equality and simplicity, its financial reality tells a different story. Implementing UBI at a meaningful scale would demand 35–50% of GDP in most developed nations, straining budgets or increasing debt. Attempts to offset this through higher corporate taxes risk stifling growth, and replacing targeted welfare programs with flat UBI payments could worsen poverty for vulnerable groups. Even as an add-on policy, data shows minimal reduction in poverty, suggesting that UBI’s universal appeal may come at an unsustainable cost.

I think so too, at first, but then things will be centralized

Shopify + GPT for example... great.
Now OpenAI is working on bringing ecomm into their chats for checkouts.

I think we'll see a lot of changes, and while yes, there will be a lot of wealth for execs... there will also be less execs.
The math never really worked for UBI. Funding it at scale would crush most budgets unless you cut deep somewhere else. It sounds great politically, but economically it’s a hard circle to square.
Mine it
It highlights how the ambition behind Universal Basic Income is grand, yet the financial burden and trade-offs involved makes a lot of questions about money resources …??
Then this massive cost makes no sense.
