The French Shooting Federation (FFTir) has been the victim of a cyberattack (18th October, Saturday) that led to a personal data breach affecting its members.
This breach involves the following data:
No medical or banking data were affected. Since the Federation does not store information related to firearm ownership, such data were not impacted either.
In my opinion this will lead to serious issues, imagine knowing where these people live, you can target their homes and steal their weapons, as mentioned by the authorities :

Quote:Due to the nature of the FFTir’s activity, the Paris Police Prefecture warns about possible calls or visits from fake law enforcement representatives targeting licensed members. Cybermalveillance.gouv.fr relays these warnings:
- The police, gendarmerie, or customs will never call you to collect your weapons following the FFTir data breach;
- The police, gendarmerie, or customs will never come to your home to retrieve your weapons as a result of the hack.

Quote:According to Europe 1 (radio), in Paris, a man posing as a police officer entered the home of a sport shooter just days after the data breach at the French Shooting Federation.
He reportedly asked to see the owner’s safe, took photos of the firearms and jewelry, then left the premises before the victim realized the deception and filed a complaint.
The investigation is ongoing, but police suspect a likely connection with the Federation’s data leak, as the stolen files contained the names and addresses of members.
