Is Crypto TRULY Decentralized, Or Is It Just Marketing Hype?

The Decentralization Lie We Live With 💔
It’s 2025. We talk about removing central control, but the reality is:

Most trading happens on Centralized Exchanges (CEX).

Most DeFi frontends are hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Most protocols are controlled by a few large VCs and Founders.

Is the term "Decentralized" just a buzzword used to justify high valuations, while we secretly rely on the centralized giants we claim to hate?

Tell me: What percentage of crypto is truly decentralized? <50% or >50%?
No, it's not truly decentralized due to exchanges, managed apps, funds/indexes/ETFs, and huge holders within the decentralized ecosystem, as well as there being additional groupings within the world of mining.

On top of all of that, any ISP could kill your practical access to services, so unless you had funds in cold storage pre-shutoff, you're done.

People don't realize that even if 100% of the internet was decentralized, everyone's fiber & internet connections are centralized by regionalized internet providers, of which there are only a few main providers nationwide.

We are most certainly centralized!

And even if 100% of a country is decentralized, there's still nation egress/ingress and every other country can decide who they connect to

So even a decentralized country is forced to work within a centralized network of egress/ingress, which is heavily vulnerable to national security claims & defensive measures (or offensive) in future.

I don't love this btw, that's just reality :/
