Cristiano Ronaldo has made his final appearance at the FIFA World Cup.

Portugal’s round-of-16 defeat to Spain on Monday, July 6, marked the end of the legendary forward’s World Cup journey. The 41-year-old had already announced before the match that this tournament would be his sixth and last.

Ronaldo finishes his World Cup career as Portugal’s all-time leading scorer in the competition, with 11 goals in 27 matches, including three goals at the 2026 tournament.

Such an exciting game to watch. Both sides played well.

Grew up watching him and supporting him my whole childhood/life. Shattered to see it happen, he's a beast.

To be completely honest, I wouldn't be surprised he makes an appearance at the next WC, considering his ego and the fact that one of the host countries is Portugal.

Sad finish. That Portugal team was super uninspiring. Spain wasn't even at their best.

I agree but I hope he doesn’t. I’m a huge Ronaldo fan and it’s noticeable he is not at his best performance already. Can’t imagine how bad it will be in 4 years..

My nephew is obsessed with Messi and Ronaldo I gotta find out how he feels about this oof. I don’t follow soccer but holy crap didn’t realize Ronaldo was 41

Even if his World Cup run is realistically over due to age, his legacy in international football is completely unmatched. The impact he had on Portugal's national team and the standards he set for professionalism throughout his career are legendary. It's the end of an era for sure, but what he achieved will be remembered for decades.
