Hey everyone, back again with another Halloween-related topic. BUT this is also something that could come up at a friends’ gathering, parties, themed events, etc.
What are your thoughts on costumes that seem to take “dark humor” a little too far? A few days ago, I briefly came across a couple of Instagram reels (I’m guessing they were from previous years) where there was a guy dressed as Jeffrey Dahmer, or some guys wearing shirts associated with one of the people responsible for the Columbine tragedy.
Have any of you ever come across this kind of thing? Whether at Halloween parties, costume parties, themed gatherings, or anything like that? What do you think of them? Do you consider them tasteless?
I understand the idea of joking about tragedies or death (I’m very familiar with that kind of humor myself). After all, constantly dwelling on depressing things isn’t exactly healthy either. But at what point does it become unreasonable to dress up and portray figures involved in organized crime, serial killers, or political and historical figures who actually did things that deeply affected more than one person?
I’d love to hear your thoughts :3
