Bytes, Bytes, and more Bytes
On June 30th, Bytes were introduced to Hack Forums. Bytes are points that you can earn by posting, having others post on your thread or making a thread yourself. Members also have the ability to donate Bytes to each other. The Bytes were introduced as a fun way to interact with each other, and possibly to use for games hosted by HF in the future. >>Source
First Byte Lottery
On the 4th of July, Omniscient released the first ever Bytes lottery. The way it works is simple. You go to the lottery page, buy a ticket (up to 10 tickets per member), and you have the chance to win the lottery, which stands over 22k Bytes at the time of writing this! Omniscient has announced that in the future, members of the new R00T user group will be able to create their own lotteries. >>Source
Ace of Spades Award
On the 6th of July, Omniscient made the Ace of Spades award available for purchase. The award is no ordinary award however. If you purchase the award, which is $25, you will receive a random amount of Bytes between 100-1000 Bytes along with the award itself. This is yet another fun way to earn some Bytes, which you can spend on either donation or in lotteries. >>Source

We may not Always Want What we say
Psychology Today has published an article taking a look into emotional support and responses to it. Women have been found to more greatly prefer emotional comfort when coming to their partner with problems. Partners that attempt to offer solutions to the issue tend to feel more alienated when their partner inevitably reacts negatively to this approach. Men also preferred emotional support more as a whole as well, but not as much as their female counterparts. The biggest takeaway from this article should be as emotionally supportive as you can be for your partner, both of you will probably appreciate it in the long run. >>Source
One way to Combat Childhood Obesity may be Easier Than we Thought
We have already known that there is a strong link between a parent's health and that of their child. However, new studies point to the motherly figure having a much greater impact than the father. According to the author of this comprehensive study, "Our study demonstrated a 75% decrease in obesity risk in offsprings when the mothers followed five healthy habits in combination—characterized by a healthy body mass index, high-quality diet, regular exercise, no smoking, and light to moderate alcohol intake. Clinicians should be informed about the importance of mothers’ lifestyle during the period of their offspring’s childhood and adolescence because it was critical to the risk of obesity in their children, as shown in our study." While these five habits should always be adhered to, many of us fall off the bandwagon of one or possibly all of the above. The beginnings of preventing childhood obesity seem to lay on the motherly figure more than ever. >>Source
Terrorist group al-Shabaab bans single-use plastic bags in Somalia
After all the conflicts have arisen and ensued in Somalia, the Al Qaeda-backed terrorist group al-Shabaab has taken control of Somalia. It has been like such for some time, and over the years, the terrorist group has banned “music, cinemas, satellite dishes and humanitarian organizations.” This week, on 5 July 2018, a new addition has been added to their prohibited list: plastic bags. Out of regard and respect for the environment, residents in the controlled area of East Africa “will no longer be able to use plastic bags.” The announcement made by the organization was met by an outpour of memes that mocked the decision, “some calling al-Shabaab the first eco-friendly terrorist organization.” The statement was released on Somalimemo.net. The site is believed to be run by the group’s media office. The published memo was aired via an audio recording on the site by Mohammed Abu Abdullah, “al-Shabaab’s governor in the Jubaland region,” where he stated that plastic bags ‘pose a serious threat to the well-being of humans and animals alike.’ >>Source
Turkey abolishes extra fees for cancer treatment: Minister
Turkey has taken the biggest leap of their many steps in the strive to abolish extra fees for cancer treatment. According to the Labor and Social Security Minister Jülide Sarıeroğlu, “Turkey has abolished extra fees that were charged in treatment, surgery and medication of cancer in the state healthcare system.” The initiative took place on 5 July 2018, where she added that the Turkish government had paid nearly 240 million liras yearly to “healthcare providers for cancer treatment.” Seeing that the extra fees are now abolished, the annual spending will nice reach an upward of 750 million liras. All cancer patients will pay no extra fees, being that the state now covers all expenses in question. The regulation has already been put into effect and published in the Turkish-run publication Official Gazette. Minister Sarıeroğlu has vowed to strengthen the financial standing of “public healthcare providers, including state universities.” As of now, an estimated $3 billion per year is thrown towards cancer treatment in Turkey, and this number is projected to more than triple by 2030, in a statement provided by Esra Kaytan Sağlam, the head of Turkish Society for Radiation Oncology. >>Source

Since bans.php is removed there is not a way to know the ban statistics I guess

It'll be removed going forward. Had to update the script we use to compile the Site News (gets rid of human error 😊)
And correct, no more ban related statistics due to bans.php being removed.
Great addition boys. Pretty cool I’m in the news :)

Great information covering all the section buddy

Great read! Though I have to admit I'm not sure how to feel about environmentally conscious terrorists lol. The Comics section had me rolling as well, with that Christian pirate.
