electricity meter hack????

That would be neat ill look up some info about it
Not sure about your area, but where I live the electric company has installed a thing they call a "turtle" on certain home/business meters.

These "turtles" measure the amount of electricity which flows through them and send the information back to the electric company.

So if house A has a turtle, and house B, C, D, & E have no turtle, but house F has a turtle, and if any house between the turtles is stealing electricity, the power use will show up on houses A & F.

When the electric company notices the discrepancy, technicians will investigate, ostensibly for the safety of their customers, but really to thwart the theft of services.

Since I live off the power grid, I rely on photovoltaic collectors & deep cycle batteries for my electricity.
Also, since I'm not wealthy, and solar equipment is expensive, I've had to learn to curtail my power consumption while slowly increasing my power collection & storage capacity.

I would investigate further before attempting to tamper with your electric meter, unless you don't mind being incarcerated.

Is it ever a good idea to tamper with mains electric to save some money???
since it is illegal i cant tell u how to do it .. i give u a hint ... beneath ur meter there are 4 wires going in take a thick multistranded wire .. turn off ur meter put one end in lower left wire other in the upper end of fuse ... remove the fuse cap before doing it ... the electricity will be bypassed ie it is now coming directly to ur home without going into the meter ... do it under adult supervision

A) Because you're dealing with high voltage, one wrong move and you could be electrocuted.

B) It is often very easy to spot these 'hacks' as the electric company sees you are using very little Electricity for a normal home, they come and check your meter. See this homebrew 'hack' and you're busted.

But, good luck if you do decide to try it.

keep these facts in mind this guy is sayin truth

I wouldn't try to steal electricity, the risks far outweigh the reward. You would probably be better off stealing cable and/or internet because its harder to pinpoint who's doing it when done right.

Once the wires are bypassing the meter, you could easily fit a surge protector onto the wire.
i mean it would only be easy if you knew what you were doing.
Either that for fit every plug socket with a protector and ensure they NEVER come off? ;)

it works bro .... i m an engineer i know these things but its dangerous(if done improperly) and if u get caught fine will fuck ur asss .. so its better to keep ur consumption under control

On the newer electronic meters, bypassing the meter results in the meter reporting the bypass when it is checked. IMO, the best way is an underground resin joint in addition to some electricity going through your meter.

At the moment I have one of those prepayment meters with a key which I have to top up before I can use. I'm looking in to how to read the data on the key using my PC and possibly writing to it before updating the meter. Has anybody tried doing this? Cannot find any info about this on the web.

Not even lieing, you can use a "METAL COAT HANGER" it'll work. ( Your electric board will notice eventually ) theres no possible way of getting away with that. My parents did it when we owned a bar.

Obviously, I wouldn't do it unless you know what your doing because you could blow your self up...
if u want to stop ur meter then contact some electrician in ur area.there are remotes available for electric meters. and as the owner of this site said no hack is possible without spending money.
Don't even think of tampering with any sockets in your home, you'l get electrocuted and especially where the pole pig line enters your house.

Plus you WILL GET FINED.

Worked for us,nightly rates at day :D

Are you trolling? - Him installing it upside down just saved your some money :D

What kind of key is it? RFID? You might be able to clone a key with "funds" on it which would allow you to essentially get free power?

Don't listen to this noob.
Hi,
Can anyone tell me how to slow down a digital electricity meter. The meter has just been installed in my house and is actually reading 1.5 times more than the previous meter. When I told electricity company about this discrepancy, they totally ignored me. This is daylight robbery and I am helpless against these giants who are actually stealing money from me and people like me. That is why I am seeking alternative ways to seek justice. Please help as bills are killing me...and my family!!
