If a power surge comes through wouldn't this fry any electronics in your home since the electricity is no longer being regulated?
I wouldn't try to steal electricity, the risks far outweigh the reward. You would probably be better off stealing cable and/or internet because its harder to pinpoint who's doing it when done right.

Once the wires are bypassing the meter, you could easily fit a surge protector onto the wire.
i mean it would only be easy if you knew what you were doing.
Either that for fit every plug socket with a protector and ensure they NEVER come off? ;)
Just don't use as much power for your appliances.

it works bro .... i m an engineer i know these things but its dangerous(if done improperly) and if u get caught fine will fuck ur asss .. so its better to keep ur consumption under control
On the newer electronic meters, bypassing the meter results in the meter reporting the bypass when it is checked. IMO, the best way is an underground resin joint in addition to some electricity going through your meter.
At the moment I have one of those prepayment meters with a key which I have to top up before I can use. I'm looking in to how to read the data on the key using my PC and possibly writing to it before updating the meter. Has anybody tried doing this? Cannot find any info about this on the web.
Not even lieing, you can use a "METAL COAT HANGER" it'll work. ( Your electric board will notice eventually ) theres no possible way of getting away with that. My parents did it when we owned a bar.
Obviously, I wouldn't do it unless you know what your doing because you could blow your self up...

That chip looks like a 555 Timer to me...
We use them all the time in school.
if u want to stop ur meter then contact some electrician in ur area.there are remotes available for electric meters. and as the owner of this site said no hack is possible without spending money.
Don't even think of tampering with any sockets in your home, you'l get electrocuted and especially where the pole pig line enters your house.
Plus you WILL GET FINED.

In the usa its like 250,000$. Dunno bout other places... but its not worth tampering with the meter
Also in that picture I see...
555 timer
10 uf / 50v Capacitor
470uf / 25v Capacitor
PNP transistor? (I know the part just not the name)
Cant make out the resistor values as your pictures were all tilted and discolored

Worked for us,nightly rates at day :D
Are you trolling? - Him installing it upside down just saved your some money :D
I am sure this would be easy if you knew a electrician or builder that can help you out. On the other hand , the council - depending on where you are , will get suspicious when your electricity bill is considerably lower than houses around your area. I really guess this isnt worth it.

What kind of key is it? RFID? You might be able to clone a key with "funds" on it which would allow you to essentially get free power?
