any advice on convincing my Dad to pay for this?

I'm trying to think of a way to convince my Dad to let me buy a VISA gift card so I can anonymously get a new VPN. I think he'll be ok with it but I'm scared he'll say "I really want to buy it with a credit card" which I find to be BS. I'm just scared he's gonna give me BS about how that's only if I'm doing something illegal which it isn't. Should I ask him to get me something like that over the holidays? Should I have someone else do it and stick with ProtonVPN until then? Anyone know of a VPN that is as good as Proton or that is better?

ExpressVPN and ProtonVPN both accept Bitcoin as payment.

I'd just use TOR if I was trying to not spend money.
