I'm trying to think of a way to convince my Dad to let me buy a VISA gift card so I can anonymously get a new VPN. I think he'll be ok with it but I'm scared he'll say "I really want to buy it with a credit card" which I find to be BS. I'm just scared he's gonna give me BS about how that's only if I'm doing something illegal which it isn't.
Should I ask him to get me something like that over the holidays? Should I have someone else do it and stick with ProtonVPN until then?
Anyone know of a VPN that is as good as Proton or that is better?
I use PureVPN, there is a chart you can lookup which says if they log, what they log, leak protection, etc. I found PureVPN to be one of the best choices for sure...
They also have webbrowser extensions for chrome and firefox which is neat, and works with Windows and Linux.
Just tell him you need something at wal mart and need some money, and go pick up a vanilla visa or something.

Make some of your own cash and buy it like any other person would, or crack a vpn account lmao
ps, even if you buy the vpn anonymously it doesn't make much of a difference. If the vpn provider gave up your info to LE, they would have your home ip and most likely be able to contact the local ISP with a subpoena and subsequently find out who you are. Sometimes its not all about being completely fucking anonymous. It also depends on what level of actual masking/security you are gonna need for whatever it is you want to do.
pss, Im happy to give you some opsec advice if you needed someone to consult for it. Just hmu anytime man.

This, you are more likely to have your VPN trace back to your home IP than them looking through credit card logs with the visa retailer.

Mullvad offers you the ability to pay in cash, costs around 5$ a month, and equivalence to that in other currencies.
So if I was you that's what I'd go for or try to find another VPN company that accepts cash payment to save you the hassle.
P.S
No logs.

So would you say Tor networking, like anonsurf, is a better approach to online security?

Yes considering TOR is free it is much better than a VPN IMO for web surfing. Really depends on what you are doing.
You may want to switch to a more secure OS like Tails + TOR if you really concerned.

I don't see why you need your Dad to do this. Anyone can buy these things.
Social engineering your dad to get a VPN? Lmao.

Because I don't yet have money. I'm mentally ill and the court gave my parents this guardian bullshit. My Dad is ok with me having a VPN but I'll bet for some fucking reason he won't let me have a VISA gift card that I could very well use to pay for the VPN.
I think I have to come up with another reason to get a $100 VISA gift card.

Just ask your dad for 15 bucks and go to any grocery/gas station/walmart and buy a prepaid debit card. If you can go to Walmart I believe it's the black money card which costs $5 to open but if you can get green dot it's only $3 for the card.
Isn’t there a way to use a paysafe card? Or is that only a steam thing?
Why don't you contact the vpn, ask if you can send ur $$ in cash via a mail.
Businesses within your country don't FWU.
