Dad hacks database to fake death and avoid child support pay

Dad hacks database to fake death and avoid child support pay

I guess the moral of the story is, don't have kids and then get divorced. Although I don't expect he can pay child support in prison, so he wins, I guess.

I must admit I am (white hat) intrigued by this kind of thing, I watched a documentary about this guy called Nicholas something, an american guy who faked his own death and then claimed he was somebody completely different who was born in Ireland, and........it was really difficult to prove he was lying. Even though he obviously was (his accent, for one thing).

Everybody needs a mental examination before getting married.

Yeah yeah, that's him, by the end of the documentary he had been deported back and in custody in the US (spoiler alert etc). Sounded like a very distasteful character indeed, they played a recording of him harassing his ex-wife, fecking 'orrible man, hate people like that.

So stupid man he went around in scotland or ireland with a fake accent hoping people wouldn't realise.

He did yeah, he was living in Edinburgh telling people he was from Ireland, with this weird hybrid upper-class English accent, and he didn't know basic day to day things that any Brit/Irish would know.

They had his DNA profile, records of his tattoos, all kinds of stuff, and yet it still took them ages to establish definitively that he wasn't who he claimed to be. I was saying to my wife, ya know, it makes you wonder, if you're NOT a crimbo sex-offender wanted by the police, can you just make stuff up, and nobody will call you on it? Could I claim I was born in Amsterdam and get Dutch citizenship, just because I say so? Pretty certain that my dutch accent is better than that guy's Irish.

Yeah I'm not having kids until I'm 500% sure that I have the funds and resources to raise them.

A few years ago when a (male) friend of mine was getting divorced, he said to me "Get married as many times as you want, but don't have kids unless you're absolutely certain".

I don't see the appeal of being married multiple times as well. Even two times is highly unlikely for me, as I have no plans proposing soon into the relationship. I'll make sure we're right for eachother before pulling the plug. And if I ever get divorced, I would probably enjoy being single for a while, and even then it's unlikely I'll find another person for me.
Honestly belongs more in the News and Happenings section.

Back on to the topic at hand though. This is a combination of absolutely hilarious and just sad. I'll be the first to say that child support can absolutely be weaponized in the courts. That being said, if you've got kids then you should be, at a bare minimum, trying to help in supporting them, period. Nonetheless, this is just an absolute meme of a story. Guy had the competence to hack into state databases, gain enough access to create new cases, and then straight up registered himself as dead. I mean come on, that shits hilarious (at least to me). I'm curious as to the details around how he was caught, probably from getting cocky and trying to sell the access and data he was exfiltrating on the dark.

"I've done the crime so I'll do the time" as my dad said to me after my parents got divorced (he really did say that, although he was 'single parenting' me and my siblings at the time, so he's probably allowed to make jokes).

From what I understand, child support is the single most weaponised thing in divorce court, you piss off baby mama, them kids are an apache helicopter that she's gonna Apolocalypse Now all over your Charlie arse. But yeah, absolutely, having kids is a huge responsibility, and one of the only life decisions you can't "undo", you can always get divorced or quit your job or whatever, but your kid is your kid, forever.

Oh yeah, good point, I probably should have posted this in news, apologies to admin.
