Have you took into consideration on how many people aren't "HF News Readers" because they have no idea it even exist? Especially new members, but not limited to just them.
I think News should have a Twitter feed for announcement of new releases. I find Twitter works well for that. Too bad @hfnews is taken. :(
Oh shit: https://twitter.com/hackforumsnews NVM then.

Getting followers would be difficult, and it would essentially be useless, as only the current readers would know about it. ---- So far, I'd say about 90% approval. With the option to turn it off, I'd bet around 95%. This would make a huge difference for the Writers and the HF News. ![]()

Now if Omniscient makes an announcement or Sir puts it some where in the HF news, that will easily exceed 5000 in a month or two. Then again, not everyone uses Twitter here. So yeah, I agree with the OP.

A simple notification implemented, (Like PMs) will do just fine and will make all members aware of HF news, and when it's posted. -- Also, even with there not being a way to turn the notification off, a simple click of an "x" on the notification will take it off the screen right away. Doing that once a week shouldn't annoy anyone.

I still feel like the ability to disable the feature would be better than an "X," as there would always be those people who don't want it.
Yet even one week with it auto-turned on, and the first headline being how to turn it off, we would get thousands of more hits. Would be great! ![]()
This would be an amazing addition.
'nuff said. (Sep 17, 2012 05:53 PM)Oak Wrote: I still feel like the ability to disable the feature would be better than an "X," as there would always be those people who don't want it. Yeah, that makes a lot of sense and will let people know about the new feature as well. I like this idea because you and your team put so much effort into bringing out new editions every week and not enough people take the time to read it, much less, even know that it's there. Like I've said before, I've grown to appreciate what you and the HF News Team does. (Hinting at the time when the Tribune was out lol) |
