★ Brief Review
- Plot Development 「9/10」
- For the whole series, the story was beautifully done with a few mistreats that are understandable. The story continually adds in key literary elements in order to keep the viewer interested, and the story does not leave any filler intentions behind unlike many other popular anime's out of there. Throughout watching the whole series, you can notice a few rushed scenes, however that is understandable as their budget was quite limited while the series was in development. Regardless of these rushed scenes, the story definitely hooks onto you, and allows you to visualize each situation as though you were to be part of the whole story. In addition, as this whole series is an anime adaptation of its Visual Novel, I would have to say the animators did an AMAZING job of fulfilling and mimicking the exact story from the Visual Novel. On a side note, ef - a tale of melodies did a much better job when it came to plot development in comparison to its parent, ef - a tale of memories.

- Character Development「10/10」
- All of the characters within the story have PERFECTLY developed since the beginning of the story, and all of their aspects have been shown with a right amount of justification. The emotional relay from each of the characters was great at the right moments, and their personalities are suited to gradually develop the story. As I have stated about the story development, you would literally cringe for the characters at the intense moments, and shed manly tears for the characters at the sad moments.

- Genre Emphasis「10/10」
- As you may have read from the sypnosis, the genre's for this anime literally explode. The whole series greatly represents itself as a romantic dramatic tragedy, and it definitely lives its name up to that. The romance can become very bittersome and lovey-dovey, and when tied up with its other genres, the emotional relay is tough to handle for the avid viewer. The dramatic tragedy can definitely make you feel pity for the characters, and sadness for the others. If you are looking for a sort of anime that'll make you feel sorry for its characters and story, then this anime is definitely for you. In addition, there are definitely viewers who are not into this sort of genre thinking its for the common-cased pussy. If your not into drama, romance, or tragedy, then I'd rather you go back to your common shounen animes as this is intended for the more appropriate seinen and josei audience.

- Sceneric Display「12/10」
- There are two words to describe all of the graphics and scenery of this anime: HOLY FUCK. The air date for this anime is around 2008 to 2010, and in comparison to the anime's we actually have airing this season, it is like comparing a house to a 50-floor apartment complex with a hooker palooza! The graphics are so well-done for this anime, and it has an intention of including abstract art every now and then which brightens up the intensity of the scenery (check out its OP's and ED's). There is nothing I can ask for improvement at all in the scenery, and its graphics are definitely very appalling to the common anime audience. There appears to be no weak points in the graphics at all, and the flow might as well make this one of the first 'commercial' anime series out there to be done in full vivid 60fps. Still not convinced? Just take a look at the spoiler below. As a random side note, I'll also be making an AMV out of this since it perfectly meets what I need for one.

- Music/Sound FX「10/10」
- The voice actors for this anime perfectly suit the character's behavior, and actually adds dramatic and emotional intensity to each and every one of them. In addition, all the sound FX and music are played at the right moments at every scene of the story. Just listen to the OP, and you can see that it works together with the graphics to give emphasis on the appeal of the whole anime. Click the spoiler below to look at the OP's for ef - a tale of melodies and ef - a tale of memories :D.

★ Recommendation
- Would I recommend this anime?
- FUCK YES. It is definitely a must watch if your a romance or drama anime fan, and if your not, go back to your typical shounen anime!
