I don't think so.

In my opinion, Japan gives you nice food and service even though its cheap and no tips.

on the other hand, America does have great food, however if you don't pay much, you get shitty everything(service is way too horrible in cheap restaurants...).

I personally don't understand why I have to tip most of the situations when I go to U.S though.

You have a fantastic point there, from what I've heard the waiters get paid below minimum wage and make up for that in tips, it's silly really.

Yea. I just heard on the news that the minimum wage for people who get tipped is $2.63 USD per hour (in my state). The normal minimum wage is $8.00 USD per hour.

I agree that it doesn't make much sense.
As someone who has already learned a second language (I read that it is easier to learn a 3rd language after learning a 2nd), how hard do you think it would be for me to learn Japanese, and how long would it take? I have learned English, French, and a tiny bit of Spanish.

I think its not about giving lunchbox. Its probably about making food for the male they like. So its like a girlfriend or wife-ish to do.

But I personally think its creepy if they are not boyfriend and girlfriend, which is definitely not common case even in Japan. :)

First off, I only know Japanese and English so you already know how to learn languages more than I do.

How long it would take for you? Probably a lot faster than most of people but it also depends on your goal.

I have seen kinda many foreigners who speak almost fluent Japanese but I have never seen anybody who can use(read and write) kanji properly.
If your goal involves mastering kanji, that would take your life.

But I am sure you already have an ability that can pick up some words and understand at least a little by just watching anime if you are good at languages, which is better start than most of people :)

What is the most insulting word you can say in Japanese?
From what I know, it's either Baka or Ahou.

It really depends on where you go and who you are.
We are extremely nice to white people(not everybody but mostly).

No offense but sometimes, usually and recently, Koreans and Chinese are not very welcomed in Japan. (traditional reasons too)

But most of clean looking foreigners are very popular amount girls no matter what in Japan. But how much white guys are popular is different level though.

They think they are the most beautiful thing in the world and dream about dating them.

So as guys. Blond blue eyed hot chick is like a dream.

I speak four. What's your excuse? 😏

@OP, correct me if I'm wrong. Girls over there prefers cute guys rather than macho/hunky ones, right? Also, do they prefer tall boys?
Are the girl's school skirts actually that short like in anime? 🎉

OT:
As of late, how does the Japanese public take to US forces being stationed in the country?
Just felt like asking this as, in last May alone, eight arrests have been made on US soldiers in Japan, which is actually really severe..

Just read through this entire thread and it was very informative, thanks OP. Makes me really want to learn Japanese and visit Japan. Too bad they don't offer the language at my school. Huge props for your for learning English on your own, your command of the language is really very good.

Edit: Couple of quick questions for you. How do Japanese people usually respond when they're asked about their history in World War II and such. Are people usually very defensive or are they pretty humble about it? I ask because I remember recently seeing an article in which a Japanese leader honored a shrine for Japanese officers that have generally been regarded as war criminals.

Second, how often is religious brought up in Japanese society? I know that a vast majority of the population don't actually hold a personal religion even though they're classified as Buddhists, but are they really open about it or do they not talk about religion much?

I know...especially there are also too many rape incidents by US soldiers too. Its just terrible as hell.

The biggest case involved the gang rape of a 12-year-old schoolgirl in 1995 by two U.S. Marines and a sailor, which sparked the biggest anti-U.S. demonstrations in Japan in decades.

in 2011, just before an official visit by then-U.S. President Clinton, an American soldier was arrested after entering the home of a Japanese family on Okinawa island in the middle of the night, getting into the bed of a young girl and molesting her. The U.S. military responded by imposing a drinking ban and a late-night curfew on all service members.

It's just terrible as hell.

Personally, I have lived near the base in Japan.

And parents say stay away from those shops foreigners own.

In my opinion, the worst ones are the ex soldiers who don't even belong to U.S army and stay illegally in Japan.
