Hey,
I have an iPod 5 Touch here, a friend gave me it and sadly it's locked..
I've tried many ways to bypass this stuff, such as DFU mode restoring, but Apple have seeme'd to get round to us and there must be no way of getting through this..
Then I thought of external programs to restore the iPod, or to wipe it with a program other than iTunes, I thought Redsn0w was going to work with it's 'restore function' but it gives off an error..
I'm also waiting for the jailbreak for iOS 7.0.4 thinking that it will bypass the screen but I tweeted to ih8snow and he said it's not possible.
Is there anyway to get through this screen?

Is this the activation lock that prevents thiefs like your friend from stealing?

Hehe, I don't even know! I've never really heard about this new system that apple has put in place but, as I was writing my post he sent me a message about the story. His Dad was working and managed to find it on the floor and decided to give it to him, it was fully working for about 2 days but he wasn't sure what to do with it. So he decided to keep it as his dad has to go afar to work, after 2 days he connected it to WiFi, it was immediately wiped and he decided to give it to me, I thought I would be able to remove it for him.
That means it was most likely in lost mode.
Protip:Here at AppleCare, we don't bother trying to assist phones that are in lost mode.
Good luck with your search to unlock this, won't get far and if you do, you're looking at something not cheap at all.

Lol! Nice, very good of you.
EDIT - Trying to look for a device explorer to delete setup.app but no luck.
To be able to delete the setup.app you need root access which is gained by jailbreaking your device.
For now, you can only wait, or pay someone about $100 for iCloud Activation Lock remove service, you can find many GSM unlocking vendors online.
Good luck ;)
I can help you out on this for something cheap. Skype me (bright.shaderz1) for more.
EDIT - I have a program much like iExplorer (But root access is granted).

The setup activation doesn't mean it is a complete fix. It could be server sided for all we know. Or even in the SHSH blobs.

I'll try it. If I do work out how to do it, it will be posted here.

Sounds to me like the iPod is stolen unless it was your friend's personal iPod. If it was his iPod, all he has to do for you is login using his AppleID and he has to disable the Find My iPod feature.
