I would question if you really need to be using this if you can't Google where to get it though.

You can download the image from:

http://www.backtrack-linux.org/

but I would really suggest Kali-Linux:

http://www.kali.org/

Installation is virtually identical.
Thanks for this tutorial. I really needed a pic by pic installation, as my prior installing was buggy.

yeah,This was originally posted near the end of BT 5's lifetime, but for Kali Linux it is pretty much the same process.
Here's a problem I can't find discussed on the forum ( had to remove 'quiet' from the command line to even see it - otherwise I was just stuck on the logo screen ). I have a HP 2000 notebook ( AMD x64 1.3GHz ) and I get a message - "...only found i686.." Couldn't find x86 or x64...? 😧 Any help would be appreciated.

First of all, "BackTrack 5 is OUTDATED and no longer supported – Downloads have been discontinued.

Please check the KALI LINUX project instead. "

http://www.kali.org/

The 64-bit download should work for you.

The guide is almost the exact same for Kali.
