3 Year Feedback Thread - A year without HF (for the most part)

Most of the time people make these they just post their life story and what they've accomplished on the site and that's what I was doing but this time I'd like to offer some actual feedback. If you want to know more about me or whatever feel free to check out these other threads:

https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=3522604
https://hackforums.net/showthread.php?tid=2589650

So it's no secret I've spent a lot of time on this site considering I have 20k+ posts and over 6 months online but for about a year I've been trying not to go on this site unless I had absolutely nothing else to do and it's been wonderful. I saw the date when I checked my phone a few hours ago and the date looked familiar so I thought I'd post this thread.

First of all, to me it seems like the only people enjoying this site are people that are either making tons of money, groupwhores, or people that have just signed up (plus ub3rs who post stupid shit on every thread in the lounge and think they're funny). Pretty much everyone else I talked to has just been complaining about the site with me. It seems like everyone who has spent a fair share of time on here knows how much worse it gets every day with a new feature or a new member that joins and tries to be liked or causes havoc.

Of course 3 years isn't that much compared to people who have been on this site since the beginning but I still feel like I've had my fair share of experience here. From the day I signed up in 2011 I pretty much went from a post whore to a gamertag section superstar to a groupwhore to a "self proclaimed hq member" posting tutorials and trying to help everyone to pretty much quitting the site. It seems like a lot of people who have had the same experience end up not using the site any more or trying to rebel and getting banned on purpose.

Anyway, back to trying to give feedback. Mostly everything that I've said in previous feedback threads holds true but a lot of people I used to like seem to have sold out or are complete idiots now.

Around june/july of last year I hit 20,000 posts and tried to stop using the site for a while. To be honest HF isn't that bad but it's not something you should be spending 10+ hours a day on. HF can be a good experience but there are way better things you could spend your time (while on the internet) on. Some of these may be other internet forums but personally I made a twitter account and it turned out to be a lot of fun.

A lot of people that go on this site are either unattractive or socially awkward so this site is a pretty good place to make friends considering you'll probably have more in common with people on this site than people in real life. If you take away anything from this site, it should either be a few people that you've come close to or at least a good amount of money.

I guess what I'm trying to say is if you find yourself thinking what you're doing is a waste of time or you simply get bored of refreshing the lounge and have nothing else to do you should try to find something. For example, I started reading a lot (Chuck Palahniuk is a great author) and also social networking and making games. If what I'm saying is out of line doesn't make sense to you I'm sorry but it really feels relevant to me due to the current nature of this site.
Damn I think I remember you from way back welcome back
I buy Amazon Gift Cards & Crypto for CashApp. PM me if you're selling

I'm not really sure I remember you but thanks a lot anyway.
Nice thread man, I'm here a bit more than 4 years, so you're one of them old school boys :) and yeah, I couldn't agree more with what you said about the website. Glad you're back.
Nice feedback, enjoyed reading it. Yeah, HF is hella addictive.
I know what you mean. Personally, I love HF. I like the community and the endless possibilities of making money. I signed up for the programming forums and have somewhat drifted away from those...

I still go back occasionally, but back in the day that was literally the only forum(s) I would be in (as you can see by my post activity). I'm now drifting more towards the "making money" aspect of HF, which has been good to me so far. I've met a lot of extremely intelligent members on site and don't regret anything I've done to be honest. I'm still friends with quite a few people I met when I first joined.

I've only been on the forum for a few months, but you seem like an intellectual member. Very nice feedback thread.
I'm both attractive and socially adept. Still spend a lot of time here on the forums. Nice to see you OP, even though I don't know you.
First off, nice feedback homie.

One of the most accurate things I've ever read in a feedback thread. Everyday new members sign up and think HF is the greatest thing in the world just like we did three years ago and I guarantee by 2017 they'll feel exactly the way we do now.

Aside from that, as sad as it may be, HF isn't the same anymore.

Thanks man, I wasn't sure how many people would agree with me on this.

Yeah I understand your situation but pretty much the moment I made my last sale on HF was the moment I was bored of it.

I mean I am as well but just by posting styles you can tell who's a neck beard and who's a 500lb keyboard warrior. Thanks by the way

I don't have many anymore either, but feel free to PM/text me if you ever need to talk :)

Yeah I felt like you would agree with me on this, and I don't doubt for a second what we experienced is happening to everyone else on the forum.
Really glad that you're going to still use HF after all your time spent here. 😉

Thanks, I'm not really sure I'll be staying considering not going on HF really improved my life.
Here I was thinking I had a lot of rep for a L33T.

Anyways great feedback man! Nice read.
It's just like anything else. On the surface it's all fine, but if you dig deeper it starts to look ugly. I've got two years on you, and the only reason I'm still around is because I haven't taken the time to look into the people, or build relationships. The people on this forum are going to be assholes, it's just the demographic it attracts. I've met people and seen people here who are mentally insane (that dude who posted pictures of himself killing a rat and spams every now and again). To religious nuts, to people who are funny. I don't go out of my way to make friends with them. Just log in once a week, check out some threads, if all is well log off, repeat.

Everyone who complains about the community is just on too long, or has too much invested in this site, I haven't noticed a change, not on the outside at least. Those who have noticed a change are those who seek friends, and look to network on this site. Keep hacking(yes the broad definition) a hobby, don't bother with most people you meet and HF will be just as awesome as it was when you first joined.

That said I have noticed an increase in the number of idiots, but I feel like that's just me growing up over my 5 year stay here. I'm sure at some point I was one of those idiots, and some guy my (current) age was shaking his head, calling me an idiot.
