Ah, I've installed many crypto currency wallets in the past so I was fine when I was setting up mine, but nice thread and surely this will help a variety of members that are new to Omnicoin and don't wish to use a web wallet.

hey if i try to generate private key it gives me an error
Invalid OmniCoin address (code -5)

If your wallet is encrypted you need to do
walletpassphrase yourpasswordhere 600

Then it's unlocked so you can dump the private key. You can lock it again instantly with the walletlock command.
