Tips on not getting viruses?

Nothing about anti virus software, but how can I become more aware If its a virus or not? I've had to reset my computer to factory mode twice already because I'm too gullible. Tips? Who's trustworthy recommending programs?
What about not downloading facebook, Twitter, nectar, email, paypal -hacks
Who has time for a signature?

This. Don't download stuff that you think might be infected (Various hacks for online games, fake search engines, fake "Facebook hacks" etc..)
I sometimes come around and poke a few threads before leaving for a few months again.
Here are some tips using real examples.

-Matching art styles
-Unique looking website
-Statistics
-Lots of information available
-Not many DOWNLOAD DOWNLOAD DOWNLOAD DOWNLOAD RIGHT FUCKING NOW buttons.
-Nothing generic.
-Doesn't look like its off google search.
-Multilingual
-A community forums is VERY VERY good, that means usually the website can be trusted.

A note about the first picture, why is there a picture of a guy reviewing a product, and has no information on it, or something to say at all!
-Site must make sense!

Another tip I forgot to mention is to install Adblock Plus, that removes all download buttons that lead to an advertisement instead.
Use an antivirus like Nod32, Malware Bytes and Malware Bytes anti rootkit.

This is only half the battle.

An analogy if you will, you can take certain chemicals to prevent diabetes, but if you keep eating sugary sweets and unhealthy carbohydrates constantly as a diabetic, your body will give up.

AVs like NOD32 will sometimes prevent malware from attacking your computer, but in fact this is more about your habits while on the computer. Simply put, do not browse websites for cracked programs, free stuff (i.e. online games), watch what is installed and read carefully, make sure you visit trusted websites only.

AVs cannot do everything for you.
Do what I do and scan everything before running it, 3 times just to make sure on different scanners.
I may suck by answering with this answer.
Just don't download unknown resources.
