Changing your name won't help since your user UID will still be the same.
Vacation ban assisting scammers avoiding the heat? |

It's a username, people can change it whenever they want. I just found out this it was only recently implemented. I am pretty confident I could say there are more scamming incidents with people banning themselves now than it was back then. I just personally believe it assists scammers and lets them have an easier ride out and back in.
3/10 thread
- Misinformation - Stupid suggestion The self vacation ban isn't some type of scamming tool and your reasoning is incredibly flawed. The scam reports will remain, and the vacation feature does nothing to help the scammer at all. I see now that the circumstances of one's birth are irrelevant; it is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you are.

I think an individual should not be allowed to take a vacation ban longer than a few days if he has many scam reports open. Yes it can be abused as a group of people can make the reports, but so can many other things. It is just unlikely to be abused because that would waste a lot of people's time. Negative rep can be abused so a user cannot post in the marketplace but -rep still exists.
What you're saying is not really correct. Scammers are punished vacation ban or not. For example: Eeluminati took a vacation ban, however despite this, Omniscient took action and extended his ban along with a repfuck. I would advise reading the following, taken from another (recent) thread regarding scammers.

Something possibly like an alert is posted on a page if a scammed has banned themselves with recent reports being posted. Maybe I am just thinking this over, but I am heading off for now. I wouldn't be surprised if a staff member just completely blanks me out with some nice points, just people at the moment aren't seeing the two sides to the picture. I'd appreciate if someone closed this thread, it's none of my business and majority of you are probably right.
The vacation ban feature, I doubt will be removed any time soon. It's working as it should to my understanding. Also, removing the feature still won't stop scamming. Users can message staff freely requesting a vacation ban, or just leave their account and come back on whenever they feel like it.

Users change names all the time, scammer or not. Users takes vacation bans all the time, scammer or not. Eeluminati scammed and vacation banned himself right after. Omni extended his ban.
