Omnicha.in - Official Block Explorer - Wallet - Pool - Stats - Charts - API

Nice Job Abe! This is going to help Omnicoin!

Fantastic.

By any chance would you happen to be able to produce a chart of difficulties based on hash rate? I'd like to see a calculator which would allow me to enter the network hash rate and have the calc estimate what the difficulty would be. Now that I think about it though, that might actually be a waste of time depending on when the difficulty algorithm is going to be changed.

Sorry if it sometimes seems like I'm asking a lot. I feel as though I can't be the only one who would be interested in some of these things, especially as a miner.
O.o I'm surprised no one noticed the blatant error in the thread. It's fixed now.

I'll take it under consideration. I'm not sure how I would implement it though. And as you said with Darkwave coming soon I would just have to recode it.
Very nice we can have now have a pool and a wallet on the same website. We need a BTC/OMC trading tool and it will be perfect :-D

You mean a trading tool on the site?
Yes that could be great to have erything on the same website

I've thought about making a super basic way to convert between OMC / BTC. It would definitely make it easier for newer users and would promote more trading. It wouldn't be a full exchange like AllCrypt though.

I've added it to the todo list: https://github.com/Omnicoin-Project/omni.../issues/30
My opinion right here but why would you put %0 fees it makes all the other pools worthless as everyone is going to use this now, I feel you should have had %1 like the others.

All pools have had a 0% mining fee at one point, it isn't something new. Besides, I don't see anybody besides Abe or myself having mined on the pool.

The other pools only have 1% fees as Omni is paying for their hosting and requires that they have it. And even with a 1% fee the pool would make less 1K in fees a week. I don't need the fee for anything so I don't see why I would have one.

Also since I'm the primary miner on the pool it doesn't make sense to take a fee from myself, just to give it back.

I know this, it was changed to 1% due to a request.

It dosent matter how much you need it or not its just a pool with 0% fee will more then likely stop people mining on another pool.

The idea of enforcing a fee was to try to even out the hashrate between the pools, but it hasn't made any difference at all.

IMO I think we should try to give Omnicoin miners the best profitability they can get. If that means everyone goes to a 0% pool instead of 1% so be it.

The idea of having multiple pools with equal hashrates at this small of a scale is kind of pointless. It defeats the purpose of a pool. If anything we should have 1 main pool that has all the hashrate and 1 failover pool. That would provide max efficiency to all miners.

Just pushed some updates to the pool and wallet:

I enabled forcing SSL when connecting to the pool for extra security. I also removed 2FA for account details update and withdrawals. That was getting pretty annoying.

I am now running 15 minute interval offsite backups on the wallet and pool databases. Even if the wallet or pool were hacked or server became completely corrupt you would STILL be able to recover your Omnicoins on both the wallet and pool with ease.

The are number of mining pool stop operating due to
1. Donation not enough to cover pool operation cost eg. Hosting
2. Always under DDOS Attack

So is glad you are the main miner for the pool, at least can cover the hosting cost.

1. Donations not enough? Omni is hosting the pools, he wants a 1% pool to cover it. Abe already has a server which he can host the pool on so it's no additional cost to him. It only makes sense to incorporate a pool into a website such as his.
2. Not once have I known of any pools being under a DDoS attack. I've also not once seen somebody by your name mining on one of the pools, are you sure you know what you're talking about?

Omniscient doesn't take any of the fees anymore. He insisted I keep the fees over 0.5% to allow other pools to have some sort of income as well.
I stuck with 1% to see if it'd make people start another pool.

Like I wrote on the other pool thread it's really simple:
Both pools have the same fee = Everyone joins mine (the "official" one, and the one mentioned in most of the guides)
One pool has a lower fee than the other = Everyone joins the lowest fee pool
This is exactly what happened the three times I changed the fee.
