What would happen if you didn't update it? Just curious?
What A Fuçking Tragedy

You would be unable to create and receive transactions. Your client would reject the whole blockchain from block 150k onwards.
Hm okay. Thank you, I was wondering because say if they lost they OMC if they didn't. The coin would be worth more due to the less inflamed market. I think so anyway. I'm not great with this sort of thing.

Fantastic. After reading about it I hope it'll have a positive impact like it has on other coins which previously used KGW.

I just looked and couldn't find the block numbers of when halving is supposed to occurred. Anybody from the team mind linking me to something which tells us when they're going to happen?

Block halving is every 100,010 blocks.

I was aware that's when the last one was but I was wondering for future reference.

Ah okay, thanks a lot boss. Wasn't sure if it was different intervals or the same one for each halving.
Due to a goofup in our code, there was a bug in the that caused the clients to have some issues.

We've fixed the bug and will be releasing the downloads for Windows and OSX very soon.

If you compiled the client yourself since this update, you will have to recompile it in order for it to work.

That's part of the reason it took us so long to prepare for this release. We wanted to ensure we could build both Windows and OS X successfully before releasing any major changes.

It will continue to follow its targets. 1 block every 3 minutes, (with variation depending on the luck of the miners) and 33.425 coins per block until the next halving at 200020 blocks.

Nobody will lose OMC if they don't update in time. As long as they back up their wallet, all they have to do is download the update, and redownload the blockchain. If it comes to that, I'll be sure to provide instructions to ensure everyone knows how to fix it.

At block 200020. More info is available on the Omnicoin Technical Specifications wiki page. This will stay constant regardless of updates.

Still here sometimes.
Thanks for announcing this crypto, I am happy we finally made this change. Hopefully we can get a countdown timer sorted and make sure everything goes smoothly through the changeover. After this change improves the targeting and patches the time warp bug, we can expand more securely.
Can not wait for the changeover. Glad to see you guys still working / caring about this project.

Of course we still care, we are actively working on improvements regularly. 🤝

No, nothing will happen to your coins and you'll still be able to use them.
Windows and OSX wallets have been released. You can grab them on the Download page:
