RARELY do I encounter a thread I find well worthy of notation however. Credit where its due, sure, but True has gone above and beyond for you new users.
Something I no longer have the patience for, a ring lead which has been passed on to himself, and with all hopes users who read this article and take what is said in to true consideration will eventually be passing and posting similar threads in the future.

My motivation for my activity, which is in general offered freely, is my own, I can only assume True has similar ambitions as myself. I see it in his postings.
Effort, professionalism, and above all, no drama, or personal BS in the articles.

I would be more than willing to send someone I cant handle myself this mans way, his postings and efforts overall have gained my confidence. I can only hope they do the same for others. 🤝

I have been looking for something like this for some time as I want to get started with pentesting and basic networking.

Thanks again!

For me personally this book was a lot more about the psychology and logic of most of today's hackers. Although it will also give you all sorts of info to get you started and on your way to hacking gibsons in no time!

I am going to give this ebook a 9/10
My reasoning for this is I do feel a couple of the examples could have been explained a little bit more in depth, but I can also see why you wouldn't want to write a 1000000 page book! haha

Tremendous work True Demon.... I hope to read some more of your stuff in the near future!

I have lost count of all of the tremendous feedback and cannot fit any more vouches in this thread, but thank you so much for your support!

Quote:Penetration Tester – Seeks out vulnerabilities in networks and computer software. (Averages $50-70,000/Salary)

Security Auditing – Same as a penetration tester, but from INSIDE a network. (Averages $45-60,000/Salary)

Network Administration – Manages and maintains a network and servers. (Averages $30-55,000/Salary)

Computer Forensics – Investigates computer fraud/intrusions to find the culprits (Averages $50-75,000/Salary)

Application Development – Creates and updates useful software for consumer use ($40-80,000/Salary)

Web Development – Creates and manages websites for client companies ($40-70,000/Salary)
This is rather blunt. Salaries are something fluid, always changing within the market and demand of certain areas. For example in Israel there's little market for Penetration Testing and Security Auditing yet rather big one for sysadmins. And salaries are much lower. Hacking is an IT-categorized field. Information Technology will always get paid lower than Computer Science - Actual programming, development and research. The only way to get paid more is to worth more - as in, be better, be exceptional, get deals from big companies. Or simply be associated within the CS market by programming alongside hacking.

Quote:(A) THE OSI MODEL
OOOOLD. Highly recommending to anyone to mentally switch the 6'th and 5'th layer with the 7'th layer (7 = 7 + 6 + 5) and then call it TCP/IP model. the OSI model is being abandoned worldwide university by university with each passing day.

Quote:(D) PROGRAM LOGIC
I don't like this rating of which programming languages are easier. Easiness is relative.

Quote:It is easy to understand, and highly vulnerable.
SQL isn't vulnerable. The way people use it is.

Quote:{INTERMEDIATE to HARD} C, C++, and C# - C, C plus plus, and C Sharp are the family of languages

that are known as C-programming. Largely considered to be the most comprehensive and powerful
In all fairness C# shouldn't be standing next to C and C++. They're on different levels. C# is a shitty microsoft attempt at making a .NET language that C++ programmers will move to due syntax.

Quote:those developers who work with the C languages are the ones

who make big money.

C isn’t really used anymore,
Skill makes money, not language choice. Not seeing a market where C programming is liek-de-best and gives you the most $$$$. If that was the case I'd stick with C and wouldn't be learning Python and C++ as well. Truthfully C is slowing down compare to newer technologies and a C-only programmer will even struggle to get a job at certain areas of this industry. Of course it's a valued language: It's the backbone of anything-computer related. Most modern languages today were written with C. It is needed, but scoring into their development areas isn't easy. Anyway it's still being used.

Quote: In this section, we will give a high level overview of how the whole system works as pictured in Figure 1. Further sections will discuss the applications and data structures not mentioned in this section. Most of Google is implemented in C or C++ for efficiency and can run in either Solaris or Linux.

Quote:16GB of RAM
But you'll handle yourself just with 8. And with a little effort, 4 too. Virtual Machines aren't that necessary, you can simply boot things up normally.

Conclusion:
This is one of the best beginner ethical hacking tutorials I've seen. I won't recommend it on my own accord as I despise ethical hacking, but if I were into it then this would be my to-go tutorial. You were spot-on with a lot of things.

Thank you very much for the comprehensive review, Pony. I grant you, I am not a programmer by trade. I dabble in a few languages, and know enough to write my own scripts and make adjustments to existing exploits, but by no means am I an experienced developer. As such, I value your opinion in this regard. If you were willing to share your knowledge and experience in the programming side, I would happily add it to the e-book and give it its own chapter, with all credit, naturally, being given to you.

While we certainly don't share the same thoughts on ethical hacking, you are a vastly more skilled programmer than I am. I am trying to give newbies the broadest experience and show them as many avenues to success as possible. I get the feeling that this is your goal as well. That being said, I would be very grateful for your input if you'd be willing to share your thoughts on how newbies looking to become programmers, exploit developers, etc could begin their educational journey.

Regardless, I will take your review into consideration and make adjustments accordingly.

With regard to the salaries section, they are all based on United States averages as of 2013. I can only assure the accuracy of my own nation's averages.

I agree, the C languages are vastly different, but I am not nearly skilled enough to make a confident recommendation or tutorial about any of them.

Agreed, SQL is indeed made vulnerable by the people that use it incorrectly, just like any program or service. But because of how easy it is to leave errors behind in the query syntax, it is easiest to compromise its security, which is why I worded it that way.

I disagree that the OSI model is outdated. It may be old, but all network traffic still must obey the laws and paths that it outlines. The TCP/IP model is just a more condensed version of the OSI model, but in the end, the OSI model still holds true. I will make a point to include it in the next update; however, all encryption and likewise processes still happen at Presentation - Layer 6 exclusively, which is something that deserves to be noted if someone wants to get into Cryptography. Long and short, I think the universities are just trying to make it easier for their students to pass the tests rather than showing them the bigger picture. 🤝

My pleasure. Reviews, vouches, and especially shares are always appreciated. The ebook is still growing, so any feedback, especially from the Ub3rs, will be greatly considered.

New update is nearing release.

Topics and content being added:

Password Cracking
Wi-fi hacking
Remote Administration Tools
E-mail Spoofing
Man in the Middle Attacks

Most of these techniques being added are to get the skid methods out of the way and also outlining the importance of password security. Sometimes the skid methods are all that is needed to compromise a target, and therefore, an easy way to successfully resolve a penetration test. Although these methods are beyond easy, they are also the basics and need to be understood in order to facilitate good, thorough pentests.

Look for the next update to be released this week. :)

You are very welcome.

Unfortunately, the update has been delayed by unforseen circumstances. A BSoD error has brought my entire week to a screeching halt. I am working to resolve it, but the book will undoubtedly be delayed for the forseeable future.
