I keep seeing mentions of Ubuntu's lack of privacy... how's LinuxMint on user privacy? I really just wan to know if you they'll keep collecting data if you disable the "anonymous" data submission.
LinuxMint privacy? |

If you would decide to read and learn about the distributions you would know that it is false. It is irrelevant from where the distributions draw their base. They add and remove features, that is what makes the distribution different for the end-user. Now; Ubuntu added Amazon search as an example; They send those searches out and use them, that is one example of how Canonical added spyware to Ubuntu. The only thing that is sending data to 3rd companies is the Amazon intergration, you can delete that lol. (Apr 11, 2016 11:11 AM)BlueRDP Wrote: It is bullshit. No matter why, that is purely spyware. There also is a loong article on gnu web site that explains this. If you care to educate yourself a bit.
Yeah im pretty sure Ubuntu neither mint spies on anyone, it would have been to big of a controversy.
Im on Linux mint having no issues, and never heard of any spying -the backdoor cuz of their site being hacked. Windows is spying like differently Ubuntu and Linux are different, they are both open source... so spying would be cought very fast! Hope it helped! enjoy! Proprietary code used in the kernel or the system isn't published with the system but can be distributed with it, however. Long time since it was caught in Ubuntu. arstechnica.com/information-technology/2012/12/richard-stallman-calls-ubuntu-spyware-because-it-tracks-searches/ It sends local searches to canonical, that is spyware at its finest and exactly what Windows does also. |
