I don't understand what has happen, it did work.

But i dual boot w7 and linux mint on my school computer. And i did a harddisk check as i was prompted before loggin in to Windows 7. Then afterwards, linux seemed somewhat buggy.

And i attempted to open Software manager but it did not work. I tried package manager and got a error stating

E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/archive.canonical.com_ubuntu_dists_raring_partner_i18n_Translation-en
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
E: _cache->open() failed, please report.

When i try to open Software manager nothing happens.. And I'm not sure what to do here.

Haha You got a corrupted list!!! :D Don't fret though.
do this... sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* -vf
then this sudo apt-get update
should fix it
