So I created a bootable USB containing Windows 7 to install on my Asus ROG which already has W10 installed.
It loads up the installation screen but then says this:
I can't get around this no matter what. I tried pressing 'repair' instead of install which took me to several options including a cmd prompt. For some reason it's booted to the X drive which doesn't even exist on my PC, and the usb switches to C from D which means the main hard drive on this PC, C:\, doesn't even show up. That's where I want to install.
I also tried diskpart, only the usb shows up.

Fuck bitches, then we die.

Normally when this occurs, you would use the "Load driver" option. But first you need to retrieve the appropriate drivers from Asus's support site and use an optical drive to load them.... Do you have a hard drive listed in the BIOS?
What is the exact model of laptop? Windows 7 will probably fail to install properly if you have a 7th gen Intel processor.

I've heard about the Microsoft and their updates with newer cpus. Are they going as deep as the processor with installation as well or is that a compatibility thing?

The X drive is for a CMD to make changes during installation.
You need to reformat the hard drive, if it can't find it, make another USB bootable and format the drive correctly and it will work just fine. Remember NTFS
Also in BIOS settings make sure to change from UEFI to Legacy if needed.

Kaby lake CPUs are officially removed from supported hardware for Windows 7/8/8.1. They no longer can install updates on these OS versions. If you try to install a version that has a later update than supported, it doesn't function properly.
It's sort of a compatibility thing. They are intentionally prevented from working.
