apt-get install not working in installed version of linux

hey apt-get install tor for example works in live version of Linux but after I installed it in my PC it and try apt-get Install tor it says some tink like cud not find ...
How can I fix it
sudo apt-get install makes it run as root. try that. Goodluck !
No doesn't work any other ideas
Found this on tor site:

You need to add the following entry in /etc/apt/sources.list or a new file in /etc/apt/sources.list.d/:

deb http://deb.torproject.org/torproject.org stretch main
deb-src http://deb.torproject.org/torproject.org stretch main
Then add the gpg key used to sign the packages by running the following commands at your command prompt:

gpg --keyserver keys.gnupg.net --recv A3C4F0F979CAA22CDBA8F512EE8CBC9E886DDD89
gpg --export A3C4F0F979CAA22CDBA8F512EE8CBC9E886DDD89 | sudo apt-key add -
You can install it with the following commands:

$ apt-get update
$ apt-get install tor deb.torproject.org-keyring

Did you update first?

That could be an easy fix.

Try:

sudo apt-get update and then try to install the tor.

You have to do this first. If you don't the apt-get doesn't have the correct repository to download from.
