GDPR agreement form altered
As you will have noticed, recently you were obligated to read and agree to the GDPR policy that Hack Forums started to enforce. On the 30th of June the administrator Xerotic announced that the GDPR form was altered slightly. The changes include one button instead of several as well as an option to not agree with the policy and by doing so automatically close your Hack Forums account permanently. >>Source

Games Reduce the Rate of HIV in Young Adults
Gay and bisexual teens are by far the most susceptible to testing HIV positive in our society with how common it is in those communities. This new program, developed at the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, sits players at a virtual gay bar and introduces them to common interactions that could occur there. Their testing of nine hundred participants has been extremely promising. There is a forty percent reduction in rates in their test group as opposed to the public numbers. Brian Mustanski commented “We were expecting maybe we would see a 10 to 15 percent reduction,” and continued to say how happy the whole team was with their final results. They have decided to title this whole program Keep It Up!  >>Source

Possibly the Oldest Star in the Milky Way Galaxy Discovered
This contender for the oldest star, J0815+4729, is filled to the brim with carbon. The excessive carbon is what leads the Spanish astronomers to their somewhat bold claims. Once they had identified this particular star through an astrological survey, they then had to analyze rays specifically from this star. After extensive spectrum analysis they were able to ascertain the abnormal levels of carbon present in this ball of fire. This star is also extremely deficient in both calcium and iron which suggested to the team that it may have low-mass. >>Source

Scientists call for a Paris-style agreement to save life on Earth
As a result of the “rising evidence of mass extinction and ecological degradation,” conversation scientists have compiled an agreement similar to the Paris Climate Accord, but with more ambitious requests. In the past, steps have been taken, however haphazardly. A small amount of protected areas in one location, conversation programs in the other, and a few laws seems to be the full extent of it, one scientist expresses. The bill was called upon with much more ambition. Their overall goal for this agreement is for it to be established globally, similarly to the Paris Climate Accord. Furthermore, they want to see the agreement not only fall on nations but private sectors too. In 2017, “49 scientists wrote a landmark paper exploring how feasible Half Earth might be across Earth’s different terrestrial ecosystems.” A highly raved about sentence from this paper that was commonly referred to as the headline is: ‘We propose a Global Deal for Nature — a companion to the Paris Climate Deal — to promote increased habitat protection and restoration, national — and ecoregion — scale conservation strategies, and the empowerment of indigenous peoples to protect their sovereign lands.’ In lesser terms, this means that the calling is looking for a massive agreement to increase the area that parks cover on our planet. In fractions, this is a request to set aside half the Earth for nature. >>Source

Kim Jong-un orders execution of senior Lieutenant General 'for giving officer colleagues extra food rations'
On 28 June 2018, reports say that North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un has slain a high-ranking DPNK officer for providing colleagues with extra food. In what seems like an act of kindness, was the right move to push Kim to make the ultimate decision of executing Lieutenant General Hyon Ju Song after finding out that Song provided additional rice and corn serving to fellow troops and their families. Song is also said to have given instructions to hand out extra fuel and telling colleagues that there is no further need to tighten our belts and suffer to make rockets or nuclear weapons. The comments and actions foreseen by the army officer was 'seen as an abuse of authority, profiting the enemy, and anti-Party acts,’ which he was later found guilty of. Song, who was serving in the Korean People’s Army, was publicly executed in the form of a firing squad, where he was hit by a swarm of 90 bullets – “fired by nine military death-row convicts.” The Lieutenant General ‘was shot at the firing range of Kang Kon Military Academy’ near North Korea’s capital Pyongyang. Sources say that Song provided instructions to released 1 ton of fuel, over 1,000 pounds of rice, and more than 1,600 pounds of corn ‘to military officers at the Launching Station and their families.’ The conclusive explanation to justify his death was because they saw this as a failure to keep Party, military, and government institution affairs a secret.  >>Source

Brexit has already cost the U.K. more than its EU budget payments, study shows
Just 15 months after the initiation of Brexit, reports say that the referendum has cost the United Kingdom more than the size of their EU budget payments. The UK economy has seen nothing but downfall ever since the vote to leave the European Union passed. An economic study by the Centre for European Reform states that Britain will be unable to “claw back when it finally leaves the bloc.” A 2.1 percent dip in the economic output has been caused by Brexit so far, even before Britain’s full exit next March. In a statement provided by the CER, they said “[Brexit’s] cost the public finances 23 billion pounds ($30 billion) in lost tax revenue.” The economic hit that they’re taking means less money to hand out to public services, infrastructure, along with other tax-dependent costs. A promise by Boris Johnson during the Brexit campaign was to spend 350 million pounds a week to fund the National Health Service, however, in reality, Britain pays just only half that amount, seeing that the EU gives back 9 billion pounds.  >>Source

This is my fault, I took a last minute LOA from writers due to vacation and having some things to take care of. Someone will be filling in for me until I get back.

Hopefully, nobody misclicks does not agree on the new terms for the forum. The oldest star in the Milky Way created an estimated 13.5 billion years ago, nearly three times that of the earth.

I made sure the options for “agree” and “disagree” were far apart to avoid misclicks. I also use the words “close account” three times. With red text and the actual button to close your account says “Close Account Permanently” with an accompanying checkbox. Hopefully nobody does it by accident after all of that 😁

Almost had to look up what a "conversation scientist" was before I realized it was a typo, perhaps its a fancy word for linguistic analyst ;)

Nevertheless decent news edition. Will have to look more into that newly discovered star.
