Community Alert | ~$4500 in CSGO Skins Stolen by 'Fox uid=2041579

Username: 'Fox
Profile Link: https://hackforums.net/member.php?action...id=2041579

Background:
Alright I've never really done one of these but thanks for viewing and listening to my complaint. I want to give some backstory before laying into the report. So the user 'Fox and I originally bought the group Influence a little over a year ago and it was split 50/50. We paid roughly $4,000 + $250 transfer fee for the group and he handled the financials. I was listed on site as the owner of the group and he owned the other 50%. He owned 3 other groups at the time and owning a group for me was a bucket list item and he let me have it. Roughly 6 months after purchasing the group he began to lose interest in the site and wanted to sell all of his groups including his 1/2 ownership in Influence. I offered to buy him out and payed him $2,000 via BTC for his ownership in the group and that's how I became the sole owner of Influence.

From there him and I would have contact via HF PM, Steam and Snapchat. Snapchat deletes messages sent by users so I only have the saved information that I have.

I added him on Snapchat because of a conversation in the Influence subforum. Here is the proof that I have that we have each other added. Please note the language used was not in a harmful or derogatory way... It was banter.

We would regularly talk via steam message as well. We've had contact on steam before owning the group however here is proof linking the steam profile I talked with to his HF profile.

In this post here he shows a popular CSGO betting site where he used to do coinflips for items. He has linked a picture of his his bet winnings. As you can see the profile with Dory is the one willing the items. That post can be seen here or in the image below.

Another user links the CSGO analyst page which calculates overall intentory value as seen in this post here. He comments and does not deny to owning the profile. That post can been seen here or in the picture seen below.

That site directs to this page showing his current steam inventory and its value. That page can be seen from this link.

We can then get a link directly to the steam profile from that page. That brings us to a steam page of this profile which I am friends with on steam as seen in the picture below.

The Deal:
Hopefully you've been able to keep up with me until this point. I want to get further into the deal now. So the agreed up deal we had was $9,000 split via BTC and PayPal for a few of my CSGO items. I will leave a list of the items below as well as a screenshot from our Snapchat conversation agreeing on the deal. For those of you not familiar with Counter Strike these items were a part of my personal collection. They had low float values, good conditions, and stickers increasing their value over market price. I gave a rough price estimate of their values.
  • AWP Dragon Lore FN w/ Katowice 2014 Hell Raisers holo on the scope - ~$2,300

  • M9 Bayonet Doppler sapphire ~$2,100

  • Karambit Fade FN 90/10 ~$1,200

  • ST FN AK-47 Wasteland Rebel w/ 4x VOX Katowice 2014 holos $3,500

  • ST FN Scout Blood in the Water ~$120 (free w/ deal)

Snapchat screenshot of $9,000 deal.

The following screenshots are from a steam conversation we had regarding the deal. I had also asked for the Fox award which he said he'd let me have as a part of the deal. In the conversation he mentions that he had PM'd Omniscient to grant me the award however he never did. The following screenshots talk about the deal since other items I had were being brokered / held by a middleman. Steam has trade holds of 1 week on Counter Strike items so we were waiting for about a week for the items to be tradable. He shows me that he purchased $5,000 via BTC from a site and has proof of that in the steam messages.

Here is a larger screenshot of the BTC purchase as seen in the last picture.

I received many messages around 4 AM the week after I sent 'Fox my items (trade hold was over on his end) saying that he had sold the items I had sent him on a popular CSGO site know as BitSkins. This site allows users to sell their virtual items to others steam users. He listed the items very cheap in order for them to instantly be bought by other users who could sell them for more. I am trying to get screenshots of those listings however one steam user commented on his profile saying that he had bought my AWP Dragon Lore. Here is the screenshot of that.

Thread Purpose:
I was a part of a deal outside of the Hack Forums contract system. I am aware that nothing can be done regarding my items or this Hack Forums user because I failed to use a contract. I plan on seeking some legal help here in the next week because I have his name and address. It has been over three weeks since my last contact with Justin also known as 'Fox here on Hack Forums. He refuses to read my messages or respond and he still actively posts on his Snapchat account of things he has bought and his meals. Aside from me PM'ing him my PayPal email and BTC address on HF that was the only on site contact we had. This appears as a classic exit scam from my point of view as he has not been active on Hack Forums since 10/21/18. At the end of the day I am out about $4,500. I learned a lesson that even if you've done business with someone for over a year you cannot trust them. I have my health and the support of my family since this money was going to pay for my college tuition. I'm upset and feel betrayed that the deal had to go down like this. We had numerous large deals where either party had gone first one an exchange and this never happened. I was completely blindsided by his actions. I just want to make Hack Forums users aware of what happened and to be cautious if you ever deal with 'Fox.

Read the whole thing, really shitty situation. Looks like he's a total gambling addict and finally decided to sucker you.
Best of luck in the future, thanks for bringing awareness.
Oh fuck that's a lot of money.

Just read up on Steam's policy on restoring items and they apparently don't do it anymore. Hope he has a change of heart and actually pays you.
So many red flags, you should had bailed despite knowing him as a friend. Tbh for that amount, knowing he's flashing his money (that he stole from you) and his real address .. Anyway I sure do hope you can take legal actions which I doubt but perhaps (if he's young) talk with his parents and so on.. for that amount Id have a chat with everyone @op knows ;) Even his school's principal/boss @ his job (doubt he has one). GL

I'd for sure be putting him on blast anywhere I could lol
Have you tried contacting Steam or BitSkins? Perhaps they could at least provide some information about the user (ideally revert the transactions..).

This seems like a legitimate alert, it's sad that is wasn't done thru Contracts but I'm sure Omniscient is going to read this and take some actions as this is "not just another" $100 CE deal dispute.

Best of luck resolving this!
Damn atleast you only went first for half and not the full amount - hope your group sells ASAP. I may try to find a couple friends to go 3rds with if you don’t sell it in a timely manner or w/e.

That sucks tho, definitely a big hit to take for anyone.

Thanks for the alert i guess how detailed!
Goddamn 4.5k i'd kill someone for that (maybe not really)
he hasn't been on here for 2 months RIP

I guess $4.5k is the price of that friendship. That fucking sucks, man. I hope taking legal action actually gets you your money back and then some. May not be worth it with the legal fees unless you get a really good lawyer who can get you more.
Hi.

If he were to sue and win, the legal fees would be paid by the defendant

TL;DR

But still the amount is huge and will alert other users who'll deal with him.

If he didn't, or they settled, it wouldn't.

It all seemed normal until he got a little pushy regarding the middleman to send items. Once payment was getting prolonged I began to get nervous and by that time it was too late. I know he works but I am unsure where. I am an overly trusting individual so I wasn't too worried until I found out he had sold them for dirt cheap a week after me sending him the items. Shit happens I'm upset but at the end of the day I can get over the loses and continue to live life.
I don't play the game, but is there not a way they could help you get them back?
Hi.
