New members need to feel like they are welcome here and have a place.  Ub3rs have lost almost nothing from their original features.  They still get access to the bulk of new feature and only a select few have recently been added to r00t only to provide l33t members incentive to upgrade.

A portion of my HF income is based off upgrade groups.  r00t needs to be attractive to the majority of l33t members.  Ub3r already have it pretty good here and have for a very long time.  I could easily offer ub3r the ability to upgrade into r00t but I think that would make it less special for non-ub3r to obtain the group.  

I make these decisions for business reasons and as forward thinking for the community. I might joke around about punishing Ub3r but I'm not being serious.  I'm trolling.  r00t is a new group for new members with a new attitude.

Well you know what, all of this makes perfect sense to me. And happy to hear.

I don't really mind losing a couple features or r00t having extra. I think people taking your "punishing" ub3r seriously sparked drama.

Where does it leave Ub3r? That's a good question. I don't have a good answer for that. I could say "Ub3r is the backbone of HF", or I could say "Ub3r is a legacy group". But what does it matter what the answer is from me?

This is confusing question. Vendor is for those who are volume/bulk sellers on HF. Why would someone who doesn't sell on HF need to have their privileges?

You have 1 Contract from 6 months ago. And it's often new members who are buyers. So the issue is helping those new members find good sellers and assisting them to avoid scammers. Vendors helps to do that. I would actually consider banning all selling unless you're in Vendor group. HF is making drastic marketplace changes.

Eventually I tire of the perception we allow scammers and that HF is so full of them. Even if it's not true it's a problem if that's what people believe about HF. So things are going to get really tight around here. The bullshit is coming to an end.

I'm curious though, why would you prevent someone purchasing something they don't need? Nobody ever needed a rainbow pony award, but it was once a symbolic token for members to declare their virginity and everyone was invited to support HF by buying it.

Serious questions here. I haven't been following all the changes closely, so apologies if I've missed something obvious.

Surely it's a gamble to hope that the number of new users who might join and might upgrade twice is higher than the number of existing users who may want to upgrade combined with new users? Pah, what do I know. I took Digital Forensics, not business.
Back when I got UB3R, I did so because I saw other people with it- and the whole application process made it very exciting. It would be pretty cool if something like that returned.

Not sure where UB3R members are moving forward, if all the newest features are going to be restricted in order to 'entice' upgrades from new people via the given sense of 'superiority'. But hey ho, if we are all obsolete as previously stated- perhaps we should all be making new accounts 🎉

I never stated they were superior. I did say I wanted them to feel special. That's not the same. I think with so many years of the ub3r group getting all the features that my attempt to start a new group that's attractive to new members is a sound decision. I also like the idea of new things to the site. Unfortunately if you have an old attitude you'll feel like an old member who doesn't like the new changes. I can't help that. If you feel like you're an obsolete useless piece of shit then hey, that's on you.

I have to agree. Back in the days being an ub3r was a privilege, or some kind of. Because you had to get approved for it. I've personally dealt with many ub3rs with awful attitude that think they own the forum. But also i do believe there are still some HQ left

A lot of quality left in Ub3r but also more of them getting bitter every week. Since no one else can buy ub3r the pool of members in the group will continue to decline. Some will just leave, others will request closure. And yet some might stay for another 10 years. But the days of Ub3r being the most sought-after group on HF are over.

I wish I could handpick ub3rs into r00t but that would probably take me a lot more time than I have available.

I am fairly certain i will continue to browse and contribute. But i must admit, seeing ub3r getting destroyed makes me feel sad somehow. Because i know if i was like the rest, i could've been closed already
