Honestly although it’s a little steep, it’s something I’d pay. But I don’t think the price of the fee was any issue in the first place to Omni and more of a way to enforce proper security.
Yes I totally agree but a fee of 100$ will take off all the trolls.

Are you kidding? Do you mean your phone? Because broken phones are common. So are lost phones. So are OS resets which blank out your 2FA. So fucking stupid NOT to backup your 2FA device. Not only do I have 2FA software on multiple devices but I found a way to export ALL my 2FA secret keys and have those in 2 different places as well. I just want to yell directly in your face "STUPID FUCKER" as loud as I can with spit coming out of my mouth like a drill sergeant over and over again.

If I could ban you from the internet, I would.

If I could ban you from the internet, I would. I mean fair enough, I had already accepted I didn’t prepare properly enough and that it’s my fault lol. Just didn’t plan on that device undergoing issues at that moment.

Nobody expects their device to randomly fail.

Always plan for the worst.
If your house exploded and you didn’t have insurance, do you think the gov would be like oh well you didn’t plan for that here’s a free house. You just gotta start again.
Sorry for your loss.

is so easy to backup, dont even need something like authy . when you are given the QR code or in plain text just screenshot the QR code and store it somewhere safe then you can retrieve it whenever you want . I don't trust authy because of their privacy policy , there are open source alternatives
I saved 2FA key and uid and use a simple authenticator when I need to generate a code, I don't get how you can lose it

I do. That's the whole reason for backups. Random fails do happen. I could wake up and my phone, my computer, the HF server or any device could just stop working. It can happen and it has happened.

insurance; “a thing providing protection against a possible eventuality.”
Backing up your stuff is insurance.

I can vouch for this! Literally happened to me last semester 1 week before my finals, the week where I should've submitted my projects. Had to go buy a Driver and work with what backup I had and running everywhere getting needed documents for the exams...
Bleh
Why not an Uber and groups above perk + fee. This could be queue based too.
I feel like regular upgraded members are more likely to secure their account (less overall recovery requests for you) and they won’t give you attitude regarding it. Plus you get money from it.
Have a purchase link the same as account upgrades that can only be access by the aforementioned groups. They pay the $20 fee upfront, insert all evidence such as proof of email and IP address, and get added to a queue of others wanting to recover their account. Provide a 1 or 2 week turnaround period so you basically can do this in your own time.
Just an idea.

That's more or less what we did. I had Xerotic build a full recovery system for us.
