Been thinking about buying in for now with approx $1000. I was looking at Lyft's stocks and how they are showing a positive growth.
Both Uber and Lyft's business model is not long term friendly unless either of them comes up with some form of new tech or introduces automated rides. So I am also interested in Uber, but their IPO and post IPO did not impress me like Lyft.
What are your thoughts?
Uber would be a smarter investment. Think about how Amazon started as a bookstore and now they have AWS. I see Uber going the same path.
Definitely good contenders as long as you aren't too long. Gotta consider how pissed their drivers are at them, at the moment, though. The need for transportation isn't going away though.
This could be a really good investment, though it seems to be having issues with drivers going on strike. I would be weary for a bit. But don't take too long.

You think the drivers being upset about being paid next to nothing is going to just wear off?

$20/hour is during peak hours, and barely sustainable considering the miles you put on your car are significantly more, and for a lot less reward than even a pizza delivery driver in a semi busy neighborhood is opportune.
I would stick with Uber. Definitely a solid investment. I do not think it will spike at all though.

I'm not into these stocks so take this opinion with a grain of salt. I think that stocks in Lyft or any tech company for that matter are bound to pay off eventually but at the time of buying in you're essentially throwing away money and waiting for a large investor to throw money at the company to increase it's stock value.
TL;DR Tech companies operate by getting investments, not earning profit, so the stocks might take awhile to pay off.

What would you suggest? What niche should be invested in more? Any example of stocks? Or companies?

I would personally suggest OP to invest in Uber seeing as he seems to have knack for tech transportation app companies. A lot of investing is just about knowing your field and that is arguably more important than even being a professional day trader or what not. Although I don't invest in Uber myself. The closest I get to tech stocks are Apple & Microsoft. Tech stocks aren't inherently bad, they just take awhile to earn themselves back seeing as the majority of these companies are not self sustainable. I'm not saying you shouldn't buy them as well because it is all about what you see profit in and for me investing in tech companies would be like reading a book in different language, sure I could get the gist but I wouldn't be nearly informed enough for my liking.
It’s difficult to invest in tech companies since they rely mostly on investments and not profit. I think uber will be a lost cause.
Heyyy What are lyft stocks ??
Mate I don’t think you get things right.
It’s not that tech companies rely on investment and not profit (lol have you heard yourself)
It’s that startup go by “let’s get the most growth as we can, we will worry about getting our work into profit later”
But then I ask, if you’re losing money now (approx 2$ a ride), how are you going to turn yourself into a profit company?
Same goes with Uber and other similar startups
They hold no physical equity, means if they go bankrupt you’ll see no money.
TL;DR
Don’t invest into a company that isn’t profitable.
SHUT UP ABOUT BITCOIN
Wanting to appear smart is your biggest learning impediment. Until you've spent many months obsessively & silently studying bitcoin, you don't have anything important to say about it.
