Audiobooks

Hey HF

Anyone listen to audiobooks? If so what sort of things do you go for? I've been going through some Tolkien lately, usually before bed and am looking for a few more ideas to expand my listening. I am open to new suggestions.

Thanks guys.

To be honest I've never listened to an audio book before as I'm still kinda old-fashioned and I'd rather go for paper book. What is your experience with audio books? Do you prefer them over paper books or?

I can't do audiobooks yet. It's slower than I would read so it takes three times as long. I just got into podcasts though, hoping that will help me get into audiobooks. I would love to listen to Mitch Albom or something along those lines.
Hi.

I probably haven't listened to an audiobook since 2015. I don't know, I just never really got into them, I much prefer the regular ol' book.

No I actually love reading real books, the older the better actually! I just find an audio book is a nice way to lay back and drift off into whatever world you are reading about. It's almost like a hybrid of a movie and a book to me as you get to listen to someone weave the story and the plot but you of course can't see it.

Oddly enough I also got into Podcasts and went to sudio books from there! Give some of your favorites a try, it's a new way to enjoy them.

I like both for different reasons but yes I can't imagine not reading an actual book. If I had to choose then I'd stick with regular books.

Once in a blue moon I'll pick up an audio book and listen to it on the my way work. Usually only if I am just going hard on a book and I don't want to put it down. I find it difficult to set aside much time to just read a novel. So when I do, I need to earnestly try to get through it, else it'll fall by the wayside. That's where audiobooks help. I can read at night, before bed. And then get another 40mins of listening in to and from work.

If you like Tolkien you might consider giving H.P. Lovecraft a shot. Most of his work consists of short stories. But they center around a recurring mythos, so it's still very engaging.

Sounds very similar to myself. Thank you, I'll take a look through some titles and give them a whirl.

Excellent, thank you. I’m familiar with the authors but haven’t heard their audio versions. I’ll give them a try. Thanks.

This is understandable as well. I personally love an actual book also.

I actually don't understand people that are reading story books or fiction and other waste of time books, just put Netlifx on.
I read & listen, productivity books mostly.
SHUT UP ABOUT BITCOIN

Wanting to appear smart is your biggest learning impediment. Until you've spent many months obsessively & silently studying bitcoin, you don't have anything important to say about it.

The Broker,
Actually I was thinking about starting to listen to them thru the day tbh so learning and working same time just like listening to music.

Netflix will never replace the feeling of s real book or audio book to me. The latter gives you the chance to closer your eyes and just relax and fall into the world of the book you’re reading. Each to their own though I suppose. Thanks for your input though, helps to get a balanced view on the thread and different opinions.
