In the end, it's most likely BTC/ETH who will survive. Others are mainly hype coins, for this moment. Not worth holding long term.

I would really suggest doing your own research. There's many good coins to invest in, some with higher predicted returns than others. Of course that comes with a risk as well.
I personally wouldn't throw all my eggs into one basket, I'd rather invest in multiple coins. You could also invest the $1000 over a timespan of a few weeks or months.

if You invest into ETH/BTC to make short term profits or not hold longer then few Years, You are playing it wrong. Do the research on altcoins that are lagging at the moment, invest, wait couple of months and profit 3x-5x-10x :)

ETH has risen 1833% since 2020 crash, if it goes to 3000% that would be insane, and what will You earn ? less then 50%...
BTC has risen 1100% since 2020, if it goes 2200% its gonna hit around 90k$, and You will almost double Your investiment if You buy now.

Do the mats, research the altcoin market and find the laggers :)

It is okay to hold ETH/BTC for a shorter term and scalp from the big volatility right now.

Honestly I think it is not so smart to buy in for the long term in the current market, but instead wait for a dip.

Its hard to answer that, i did a similar question here some days ago and received all kinds of reply's , BTC and ETH seem to be always the most secure investments, but there's a bunch of others alt coins and tokens that can gives us very good profits in a short/long period, you need to do your own research, its hard, i know, im on the same boat.

Always bitcoin if longterm. On the other hand I just put $1k on ZEN and made a few bucks for now.

Maybe something like Waves with staking. Where you can earn more of the crypto and compound your holdings.
