What are some projects I should look out for? You have to invest in Polkadot (DOT) to participate in the auctions. Polkadot supports a limited number of parachains, currently estimated to be about 100. Parachain slots will be acquirable through auction, If a project does not take parachain slot (does not receive enough DOT support) you will get your DOT back in a few days after auctions end. https://wiki.polkadot.network/docs/learn-parachains https://wiki.polkadot.network/docs/learn-auction ![]() I've been looking at smaller projects that will be fighting in auction for a spot on the parachain but haven't looked into them enough to recommend.

Correct, if the project you choose successfully wins the auction your DOT will be locked for the leasing period (96 weeks). You will also be rewarded with the native tokens for the project in which won the auction for your contributions. However, if the project fails to win the auction your DOT will be refunded immediately. edit: Also, if you look at the image i posted above, one of the biggest trade-offs is that you cant stake the DOT while its locked, so if the project is not successful, you might have made more money simply staking your DOT for 96 weeks. However, if the project is successful obviously you would have made a huge return on your initial DOT investment. Acala and Moonbeam are highly anticipated to win the first upcoming auction: https://parachains.info/auctions/polkadot https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/acala https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/moonbeam Although this is only the first round, many more projects will be auctioned later. Yeah, staking DOT for 13% APY is not a bad idea especially if you don't want it locked up for 96 weeks. Although for example, if you participated in Kusama's auction for project Moonriver, you would have received 14 MVR for your 1 KSM contribution. 1 KSM = $390 14 MVR = $5234 You receive 30% of your rewards immediately, you receive the remaining 70% over 48 weeks.
Yesss, I am going to read about this soon. I remember reading about this a few weeks ago. Also invested in moonriver back then and made a quick x2 in 1 day. Now I've confinced my friends and I think we've got a good amount of $ to invest (like 1btc). Any videos you can share OP? Or explain how this is gonna work? Like what do I need to setup to participate for an auction.

Today the Polkadot market cap is $40b in 2 years will it be $400b or $4b? Regardless of whether a project such as Acala or Astar or Moonbeam is successful, you will receive your DOT back in 96 weeks after the lease expires, during those 96 weeks you are allowed to gradually claim the native token rewards.

Yeah almost 200$ million into acala. They have that liquid crow load option. I was wondering if they could run off with our dots that way?
Also moonbeam requires vpn if from USA. Is that a good idea to contribute using a vpn? Any chance of losing funds you think? Also what projects are you aiming towards now? Still moonbeam? Did you do your research on all the other projects?

Yeah, $200 million into Acala so far and it's only been live for a couple hours the DOT:ACA ratio reward will probably be very low. I used a VPN for the moonbeam auction, you shouldn't participate if you are from the U.S (legally) however, I think banning U.S will actually give higher DOT:GLMR ratio rewards. |
