What stops programmers from becoming rich ?

Like seriously what stops people from just implementing good coding practices making a decent ui and just raking in cash via ad revenue in an unobstructuve way? Is it a saturation thing ? I really want to learn and grow from this post.
Lack of good "programmers" , I am not a programmer. I have seen many people "claim" to be one but yet they can only program things they found on google. The good "programmers" do make money and have outstanding careers.
All the best practices and nice UI won't get visitors if the website is useless. Quality content or must have features aren't easy to get.

Creating a product is not enough there is alot more that goes into it being profitable.
I guess there's a lot more to it than just being a good programmer. Marketing, SEO, all that other stuff are a bunch of other tools you need to put together to make something successful
Most people don't want to just work for a company and mindlessly work on their projects. They want to do something their passionate about, and that's hard to find unless you're in the top percentile of programmers or do freelance jobs.

Just creating a brand new project on your own isn't the easiest. It takes a lot of other skills than just knowing how to code in order to successfully make money off of let's say software or an app you would make and I find a lot of programmers don't have those extra skills and they also don't want to do that stuff. The freelance programmers who do come up with good ideas for software and put effort into marketing etc... usually do end up making good money if it is a successful project.

That sounds reassuring, not that I was specificially looking to be reassured more just curious but still thanks.
The only people who care about good coding practices are other coders. All 'normal' people care about is whether a site solves a problem or not.

Yeah never really struck me as a fun job despite me having the knowledge.

No problem glad I could help you out by explaining that. There are tons of jobs out of there for programmers to make good money with as well and if they invest and save their money wisely they easily can become well off with money without having to make their own software.

Interesting question. I think that there are many mediocre programmers out there though. Sure you can make pocket money but with average programming skills you won't be hired for big jobs.

This lends itself to the intent of my question, say, like myself you have a talent for content creation of some kind, at that point doesn't it just become a matter of pciking up skills in such a way to leverage that cross discipline style to really achieve something ?

Well it also takes reputation to be able to make big racks. I have a few programmer friends who spend the entirety of their day getting better and better, but they aren't landing any good paying jobs simply because they aren't very known.

HF is a decent platform where you can gain some reputation and recognition.

How does one gain reputation and recognition here expressly for that purpose?
