Hello.
Does anyone have experience with this happening?
Earlier today my mom had walked my dog because I was busy all day, and she did it without a leash. My dog is pretty active and she always says that she can't keep up with his pace so walks him without a leash if she sees that nobody else is around. And yes I have warned her about this multiple times but she eventually does it again.
Anyways, my dog and and another one were sniffing eachother for 10ish seconds (another owner was walking his dog without a leash) and the other dog attacked mine. He left him 2 bite marks above his neck before the other owner got to his dog.
My question is, how urgent is it to bring him to the vet? I am unable to do so today. He seems okay, other than a little sad and he obviously becomes super sensitive when you start to stroke him anywhere near the bite marks area. It hurts him but I've been able to see the scars underneath his coat. I think the other dog's teeth penetrated the skin a little.
I know I should seek professional advice but I am just wondering if anyone has had this happen to their dog.
UPDATE:
I never posted an update on this matter.
Regarding my dog - now he's absolutely fine. Actually he's been fine just a few days after the surgery. Yes, he ended up needing surgery, and it was worse than I anticipated. They had to cut out a fairly big part of his neck, picture below.

He took 4 different medications for about 10 days after the surgery and it took 3 months for his hair to fully grow back. I thought he was going to behave differently towards other dogs after the surgery, in terms of being afraid of other dogs, but no - he's still the same old goofy happy doggo.
A side story to this - all of this happened while I needed to find another apartment to live, and because I live in a city where most landlords let you stay only outside the summer season (so no staying during June,July,August and half of September), it was very difficult for me to find a place to live. This all took toll on my mental health and dealing with the surgery, eviction and losing my job all in the same week, my stress was at an all time high. However, the dog situation actually solved my apartment problem! I was desperate, so I continued posting in apartment hunting facebook groups that I am looking for an apartment, only this time I attached pictures of my dog from the surgery and added a sappy sad text (which was true, I didn't exaggerate) hoping there are still decent people out there who would offer me an affordable apartment to rent throughout the whole year. 2 days after the post, an old coworker called me and told me that a friend of his saw my post, and called him to check if I was a good guy. I ended up getting a 2 bedroom apartment with a huge garden for my dog, for the same price I was paying a small old studio apartment!
This was a very valuable lesson to me - that sometimes life will give you blessings in disguise! It also bonded me a lot more with my dog! <3
