What was your first text editor when you first installed linux?

Title says it all my friends. What was your first go to text editor back then when you first started out with linux? Mine was plainly vim way back in the mid 2000s and I never used nano even though they say it was easier to use. What about you guys, what was your first text editor in linux?
I used vi at first but then switched to nano.

I used nano when I first started. (technically I used vi, but I couldn't get out of it and rebooted the computer... 🤣)
So, for several years I used nano until I learned how to properly use vi.

VIM is 1000% better than nano, if you need it. Buffers, regular expressions, functions, key mapping, plugins.

There isn’t even a question of nano being better if you spend 100% of your time in a Linux environment. Nano doesn’t even come close to the functionality of VIM, but if you don’t need that functionality and you’re not familiar with vim, than obviously you’re just going to use nano.

nano is basically for quick edits. If you’re doing all of your work in nano, you’re honestly a sadist.

That being said, vim master race.

Nano vs vim in a nutshell. 😆✌
I used Leafpad as my first GUI editor, and reluctantly used Nano for a terminal-based one.

gedit however if my all time favorite, especially because you can customize all the colorization and syntaxing.
i used nano back when i was learning, now it's vim every day.
