Sunday nights after escaping the 9-5 life

You know what the absolute best part of working for yourself is?

It’s not even necessarily the work itself—it's Sunday night. Just realizing you don't have to force yourself to turn in early, set a brutal morning alarm, and stress out about waking up at the exact right time just to survive another grind of a week.

Sundays actually feel like an actual weekend now. You can just chill, stay up as late as you want, and enjoy the night without that constant, low-key background panic of watching the hours tick away before you have to lock in for Monday.
Anyone else feel like ditching the forced early bedtime is an underrated perk of going independent?
To be honest, I've never really dreaded Mondays or having to wake up early for work. I guess it all comes down to whether you genuinely enjoy what you do. I feel like a lot of people end up stuck in jobs they don’t particularly like, simply because they're afraid to take the risk of pursuing something they're actually passionate about.

Yes owning your own website and your own business is a great feeling!

For me personally I don’t like taking orders from someone else or waking up at a specific time for someone else who makes money off my contributions.

Same, in the cybersec field that's the moment where you realize you have to do something to get to the level of CISO so you can manage people below you and avoid being in the micromanagement field

Hope you manage to get there.
Love seeing posts like these, I am taking steps into stop working full time and go part time at my same job while I try to build something on the side and focus on my health more. I'm saving up money.

Thanks, I'm almost there! I'm currently in the process of building a team of talented individuals, and micromanagement is definitely not the approach I intend to take. That said, as you probably know better than most, working in our field sometimes requires going the extra mile and putting in additional effort when the situation calls for it. One thing I won't tolerate, though, is AI generated slop or people relying entirely on AI to do their work instead of developing their own skills and critical thinking. Hopefully, I'll end up building a solid team of people who genuinely know their stuff. ;)

I second this. While I admit that it was a challenge to do a complete 180° with my sleep schedule, I sincerely don't mind having to wake up so early for work anymore. I just got used to it and actually began to enjoy it too. But I do see the appeal in what OP is saying, and maybe it's just not for everyone.

I think it’s just personal preference to be honest.
I really like what you're describing. If you have confidence and believe in yourself, you can manage your finances, find new projects, and close deals regularly; that must be the best life.

Can only agree with that statement.
Looking at the start of a week as a new adventure helps.

But if you think about it, that can be the most stressful thing as well, and the reason to regret running your own business in the first place xD
