[Relase] NotepadX v3.5 BETA [Advanced VB.NET RTF Editor]

Hey Guys,

I'm currently developing an advanced VB.NET based RTF editor (most regulars will probably have seen previous versions), and I'm going to release v3.5 BETA now.

New features include:
-Ability to right click a word & get synonyms & definitions offline.
-Ability to right click a word & get larger list of synonyms & better definitions & web results online
-More right click functionality
-Added word & line count with advanced counting, such as spaces, etc.
-Enhanced the "Change case" button. New options include "Sentence Case" and "Capitalize first letter of each word".
-Ability to convert the document & save it as an Image
-GoTo specified line

All Features (apart from new ones):
-Tabbed editing
-Spell check as you type
-Support for all fonts, sizes, and formats which you would expect in a richtext file, as well as the ability to preview fonts (like in the MS Word font selection combobox)
-Subscript & superscript
-Indentation & Bulleted lists
-Recent documents
-Find & Replace (regex enabled) & GoTo Line
-Insert over 2000 symbols
-Insert images from file & from clip art (clip art pulls results off Bing using Bing's API (no webbrowsers))
-Word art (pulls results off the web, unfortunately haven't worked out how to do it without webbrowsers)
-Load website source to textbox
-Markup for VB & C#
-Zoom functionality
-Loads of other stuff that I can't think of ATM.

Fixes include:
-WordArt now works if you've got a slow connection
-Selecting text no longer causes formatting to be removed
-Regex now works with the replace dialog

UI Has not changed, so take a look at these two topics for screens:

Source code: Coming in a few weeks when it's stable, and when the source code isn't embarrassing!

For all those of you who despise DotNetBar, you're beginning to convince me. I'm still looking into better alternatives & how to write my own controls. Until I find something better, I'm stuck with DotNetBar.

PLEASE TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK!!!
This is one of the best programs I've seen posted here that isn't malware.
An amazing feature that I think you should add (future versions) would be the ability to read and write PDF files. x)
try krypton or Infragistics and if u have it u can use the defult controls and play with them and can be more buty
Edit forgot about ur realse amaze. wait for src

I can't even translate that, what the fuck are you saying xD?
That sounds like an interesting idea - the reading PDFs is nothing new - but writing & editing them would certainly be a big task. I might implement this in the not too distant future.
But first I'm going to need to make this version stable - In my opinion, I've pushed too far ahead in terms of features before making sure that everything runs smoothly - and the reason I'm not releasing the source code yet (I normally would release the source) is because it's completely ugly. In short I need to spend a very long while making this stable before adding new features.

Wow, I must be doing well if TheMist says it's good :P

Edit: no1me, I pretty much got the first line, but the second one was gibberish. What is it that you want to communicate with the second line?

Oh and about Krypton, I haven't been able to find a crack for it, so It's rather unlikely that I use it in any of my apps.

It's good because for one it has nothing to do with malware, you've spent awhile coding this(I've seen your old threads) and you have plenty of amazing options.
i just forgot to write about the main thing so i edit the reply ("Edit" forgot about ur realse amaze = amazing. wait for src =sourch)
and i give u the crack (very hard to find, u right)
Nice work.

A couple bugs & suggestions

1) (Bug) Loading a source page from a url i get this horrible flicker. Still going now after a few minutes. Seems like it keeps updating. Do you close this properly.

2) (Bug/User Logic) Document to image - Pressing cancel causes the error message to appear. I don't need to know this since i am cancelling. And it is certainly not an error. Functionality i would say drop the message all together.

3)(Unhandled Exception) NullReferenceException - change selection to sentence case if no text is selected.
# same goes for capitalize case/toggle case
# For any exception you have not thought about you should handle the unhandled exception event. Will show you this if you desire.

4) (Suggestion) Why can't a user type with highlighting? This should be a must.

5) (Suggestion) Context menus should be toggled. Copy/paste etc....

6) Remove DotNet Bar ;) joke

Brilliant work.
The clip art flashes..a lot. Other than that, good work.
Yeah. I've been expecting lots of bug reports for reasons that I mentioned in my post earlier. Thanks for the info guys - I'll try to implement your suggestions.

ident, about the SyntaxHighlighting, it was either disable editing, or have MASSIVE lag when the user edits. My to do list includes a workaround - but as I'm using the TextChanged event of the textbox, stuff gets messy.
I thought that would be the case. Are you using regex to match the selection?
You should add syntax highlighting..
Github
Keybase
Shoot me a PM

...Did you even download it?
This really is pretty nice for a notepad. If you had PHP and HTML Syntax highlighting I might just use this over NotePad++. Anyways nice app again!

P.S. - Try using DevExpress or Infragistics.
