Hi,

I'm suggesting something new, something that prompts you to give a reason for your rating, even if it's one or five.

Basically, if you press a star you'll get this:

"You've chosen 1 star, please provide a reason for the thread creator
[textbox]
[Cancel] [OK]"

This also involves CANCELLING a rating for if you slip or accidentally press a star!

This would also make it easier for staff as there would be less rep abuse and less flaming in subject.

Second suggestion:
An interval that needs you to wait 30 seconds per rating, this would reduce a person going into a section and rating every topic one star.

Again, this isn't really practical. We don't "need" it so why should we put it in? It wouldn't really help that much. What is up with people and thread ratings too? They are pointless. I don't think anyone even really looks at thread ratings.

If this is implemented people will need a way to report random ratings etc.. I think this is practical and would stop a lot of people whining about receiving -rep for 1 staring a thread.

I don't even look at thread ratings, I look at the title and it's relevance to my interest.

It doesn't matter the reason the person rated a thread, because the outcome will still be the same. The topic creator will rage and -rep the person who rated the thread, who will -rep in return.

The prompt asking whether or not you want to rate a thread is a good idea, but having to a supply a reason is not.

I support this. It's so annoying when someone rates your thread 1 star with no reason. They are just doing it for the badness.

Stop complaining if people don't like your thread, somebody rates your thread 1 star you go and try to neg rep... everybody has an opinion.
